To check the pitch angles on both rotor blades, the trimmer has to set to the middle or all the way down on the DX6i? What is the reason to set the trimmer all the way down for initial flight?

Set the throttle trim to zero - always. The idea is that you don't want any motor RPM when the stick is at zero. Theoretically, all trims should be centred for all control surfaces (Pitch, Aile, Elev and Rudd) and zero for Throttle.
You need to start with setting your zero pitch at mid-stick. To do this, make sure you either use throttle HOLD or the preferred option is to disconnect a couple of motor leads and then make sure the F. Mode switch is in Pos 1. raising the stick to the mid point 50% in and 50% out and set zero.
Too much to go into here but there are plenty of resources available to you on the net. Search for the DX6i on YouTube and if it is for a Blade 400 search for the Blade 400 bible by Slyster.

Simply put by setting your throttle trim to zero you may cause your throttle signal to be out of the recognized range for the ESC and cause it to have issues arming. Set your throttle trim to center and follow the instructions provided for the ESC on how to set your throttle range.
Edit:
Almost forgot to mention that throttle trim is only active in Normal mode anyway. Specifically because in normal mode throttle mirrors pitch. If you were to adjust trim for "throttle" in idle up it would cause a pitch adjustment too, which would probably be a bad thing.

I have E-flite Blade 400 with DX6i. I'm talking about the pitch angles setup correctly. I assume that throttle trim has to be in the middle to zero the pitch angle, and the throttle stick down and up has to be -10 and +10. Is this correct?

of course you are right - i was only relaying what I was told, however I was always under the impression that setting the throttle trim to zero was a safety measure because you can still set your throttle extents when programming the ESC. That is also true with the trim centred. Your call.
I shall take it up with the LHS advisor!!

Yep, that I was working on Blade 400. It was originally set in (F. Mode 1) was -5 and over +10. Now, the full pitch range is -10 and +10. I just want to leave programming radio to default setting until I get the pitch angles correctly.
