RE: Eflite Blade CX
I work at a local hobby shop and have been processing orders for quite some time, and noticed something funny after the 25 or so CX. The thing is the printing on the box. Check closely on the end how they shaded the X on CX, it's actually a P behind there.....looks like a little printing mistake! hahaha, oh well. Hope you guys like these things, I know i like my CP, just you guys got the LI-po and we didnt. On this order a little AC to DC conveter came in by Eflite that will allow you guys to charge your batts through the wall. $24 bucks for one isnt that bad either...that was the only drawback i saw in heli package but it looks like they fixed that problem!

RE: Eflite Blade CX
What type of material are the CX blades? Are they furniture friendly?
|
RE: Eflite Blade CX
I see that E-flite is now selling the CP by itself (without the radio). Anyone heard if they plan to do this with the CX? I used the radio that came with mine for about 30 minutes and then progammed the CX into my 14mz.

RE: Eflite Blade CX
I'm officially a Heli Pilot! I was to close to a wall, orientation got me confused, had a soft chair below, thought I was going to strike the wall so I dropped throttle from about 1-1/2 feet from chair, landed partially on chair and flipped the heli onto the top of the rotors with no power to the blades.
Short drop to the floor but broke the Stabilizer Flybar Hub/Holder contained in CX Part # EFLH1212 Inner Shaft w/Hub & Main Gear Set. This is a weak piece.....well...I guess it isn't if you fly correctly..HAHA. This piece looks like one solid piece attached to the inner shaft but in the parts list the flybar holder shows that its separate from the inner shaft. Thank goodness for super glue. That fixed it but when I go to replace the Stabilizer Flybar Hub/Holder how do I take it apart? Do I have to replace the inner shaft? I looked closely but wasn't sure how to take it apart when I get a new part for a permanent fix. I wish the CX had instructions on assembly/disassembly. The exploded view doesn't do enough for a beginner like me! Thanks for any help on disassembly. MA3K |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
MA3K... from what ive read in threads and my own expierence with the blade cx its pretty common to expierence some minor drift during take off/ive read about ground effect and also expierenced it. my suggestion and im not an expert but think most will agree is to trim it for best flight when its out of ground effect. the instability and drifting is pretty common while in ground effect (make trim adjustments while on ground and and retry in air unless your comfortable trimming while in flight)and when your ready and comfortable enough to fly it higher it will be more stable out of ground effect. i know its nerve racking to take the blade higher and have potential for a crash when its up higher but youll find when its out of ground effect it will be easier to fly. also once the training gear is off it will be more manageable. set up is extremly important with any aircraft/it can make it easier to fly or very difficult. your flying area sounds really small and sounds really limiting as far as manuvers or learning. i know personally if i had a larger area i would be more comfortable doing more manuvers and it would probally make my learning go quicker. i havent had any mishaps so i cant really comment on repairs since i havent taken mine apart other than the canopy and made trim adjustments. ive had mine a little over a week and flown almost every day. ive flown electric planes since midsummer and feel thats helped alot from hovering planes and having learned throttle management during hovers and its carried over to my heli learning/realflight has probally helped alot to. your flying will come along and with learning youll make mistakes just as i have and everyone else new to heli's has. good luck with your flying and learn at your own pace and with your own comfort level. :D

RE: Eflite Blade CX
Mine just broke at the same spot as everyone else's, right at the top above the flybar.
I cannot describe how really angry this made me. It looks like a major problem and I will bet that over 98% of them will break in the same spot. Horizon must have known about this defect through their testing. Only a slight hit on the flybar and it is broken...every time, but IMO, they obviously were in a hurry to get them out for the holidays and chose to ignore the issue. I ordered two replacements. You get the inner shaft, main gear and the head piece for $9.00. To remove them simple losen the collar at the bottom and pull it. Watch it because there is a bearing in the middle and I nearly lost it. |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
Hello all,
I just picked my BCX up here in NC, the last one the shop had in-stock. Now, with less than 20 mins total flight time, I'm really pleased with how stable, and how well this heli flies right out of the box. I've also flown the Century Hummingbird (V1) , and I think the BCX is a much better beginner heli. It's also easier to fly indoors, since it responds gently to the controls. I keep reading about folks breaking the BCX hub, or blades, and I think about the LMH Corona I used to fly; ..into trees, houses, and of course, the ground. Without breaking anything. Not that it didn't break eventualy, but you had to try hard, and often! Good ol' American engineering and mfg. But, I wish I had this BCX instead of the Corona, back then. This will be my rainy day, indoor practice heli, and my "...here, try flying a helicopter" trainer. ...got to go, my Lipo has finished charging.... |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
The carbon thread inner shaft reinforcement is working fantastic on mine, I recommend it. Today it fell off a table, hit a wall about 6 feet up and fell to the ground, and blade struck my hand. I had to straighten out the flybar a couple times but the inner shaft didn't break.
I took about a 6 inch length of about 5 carbon strands, kevlar would work too. Wrap it around the top of the shaft down to the upper blade drive pins. A few drops of thin CA lock it in place. Don't glue the square flybar drive peg into the shaft, leave it press on so it can pop out in a crash. When putting the flybar back on the weights need to be in front of the upper blade leading edges, not behind. With that problem fixed the little bird is holding up great, knock on wood. |

hi all.. got some news. got back from LHS a little while ago. bought heatsink and ac adapter. flew a bcx that had been crashed and repaired.. well it wasnt fully repaired i found out after the owner attempted to take off it got extremely unstable very violent good thing he had training gear on it. after seeing it wasnt flight worthy at all we inspected it and after repairing it with the guy and replacing outer shaft which was also bent during his first crash he had me try it. it was way out of trim cyclic was way off and so was rudder which took awhile but after adjusting trims and swashplate rods all was well. i hovered it around for a couple minutes and it felt fine. i gave him back the transmitter and he was hovering ok to but would get to close to things and cut power and drop it. this went fine for a couple minutes and he crashed it again. the news.. parts# EFLH 1212 and EFLH1212 referance #s 006 and 007 are two pieces in manual yes two pieces.. on my BCX its a single part and on his it was a single part that he raplaced after his first crash ? his replacement was two pieces like in the manual. i guess they made manual after production or something. i guess flybar part was made into two pieces so it could pop off rather than break in a crash. it seemed to hold ok and i was able to check forward and aft balance by holding it from flybar and it didnt pop out.

RE: Eflite Blade CX
update on flybar part.. i tryed to pop mine off to no avail and felt if i used more force id probally break it and it seemed to be one solid part. i found out that there glued at the factory but replacements come without being glued together. personally if i had to replace mine i would glue replacment.. id rather have it break in a crash than have a chance of it vibrating loose and causing a crash without warning. so manual is correct and production part is same only its glued at factory appearing to be one solid part and shouldnt be able to pop off on out of the box models.

Hi,
The CP Replacement airframe (EFLH1101) has been available since day one. There are no plans to sell a BCX replacement airframe. RE: Eflite Blade CX
I have a different micro heli, but the blades certainly will damage leather furniture... I didn't slice anything, but it makes noticeable marks. I don't think that they're sharp enough to go through fabric. They would definitely make marks in wood, plastic, drywall, etc. You should check if the blades are the same as the Hirobo XRB. If they are, then that's your solution. The XRB blades are made of a foam-type material that basically self destructs when they hit something. I don't have any hands-on experience with them, but I would suspect that they're quite safe to use around furniture.
Good Luck Still waiting for the CX to show up in Canada... ORIGINAL: Lazy Bee HELLO! Guess I should have emailed the manufacturer. No one seems interested in answering my questions. Posted yesterday. 8 posts back. Many thanks to anyone who might help. |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
I got my CX 3 days ago and read the book.It needed the linkage and the pot mix adjusted so I didn't max out the trim. With only 2 charges,I was abale to trim it properly.I never flew a rc heli, but I flew heli's on battlefield 2 so much that it was very easy to learn. Its been 5 flights and I can do all the tricks they do in the training video.I am hooked on heli's for sure. All the posts are great and the members here are cool.I can't wait to get a nice outdoor heli too.

Just tried my JR crystal in the blade cx didn't work. I love this heli very simple to fly bought mine off the shelf but the hobby store in the twin cities is getting 50 of them in on tuesday.

RE: Eflite Blade CX
Get Real. Thanks for the information.
I went to my LHS and two guys were flying their CXs in the back. I talked to them and learned alot. Got mine out and found it was definitely the limited space I was in. I flew it fine, for a new pilot having more space to fly. I also noticed that the top flybar and hub replacement part for the CX shows it has two pieces in the replacement parts kit. I also thought mine was a single piece connected to the inner shaft/hub. I'll choose not to glue mine when I replace it. I have 2 on order but I'm to new and will probably have more mishaps so I'd rather have it pop off, I think. I've broken mine twice with relatively minors hits but CA worked great !!! So before you all get to upset about this part try CA. I'm not happy about this part being so easily damaged but the Heli isn't supposed to hit things so I'll take responsibility but hope that Horizon Hobby either strengthens the piece or makes a mod to be able to replace it on the shaft from the top so I don't have to pay $9.00 each time when I only need the plastic part!! The other two pilots at the LHS also broke theirs and CA worked for them. One of them used string to wrap around the hub along with a few drops of CA as suggested above. Worked great for him as well. The CX is awesome! This pilot is the one that still needs some work....HAHA..I'll get there. Thanks to all MA3K |

Picked up a scale finally. weighed all my planes and BCX. also weighed battery to show anyone interested in its payload abilitys which i demonstrated in test video by lifting BCX 7.4 lipo/ 1.5 oz according to scale which is suppose to be pretty accurate. still havent broken anything on mine.. i know it will happen eventually. this is just my opinion and not directed twards anyone but in general/its very common in posts of how cheap or fragile aircraft or parts are thought to be. i personally think if a part doesnt fail in flight its built well/if it fails in flight after a crash chances are it was overlooked and already damaged do to crash. bottom line things break when you crash. id like a aircraft that could bounce off walls and 3D and pretty much fly itself to but thats asking a bit much out of any aircraft. MA3k from what i seen this weekend at shop it would be nice to be able to purchase that part seperatley. good luck with your flying. :D

RE: Eflite Blade CX
Cal-Torque I live east of Red Deer and just ordered one from Hobby Wholesale in Edmonton, will be in my hands by lunch tomorrow. Great Hobbies from Edmonton and PEI list them also. The price is 219.99 Cdn. There is a shop in Red Deer called Hobby Extreme the sells a pile of BCP parts and had several BCP's in stock last time I was in, they may have one. Great Hobbies and Hobby Wholesale each have good websites that should be able to set you up with what you need. Hobby Wholesale was out of rotor blades and training gear today but have an order coming on Wednesday I think he said.

RE: Eflite Blade CX
Hey Boss, I picked one up at Hobby Guys today. I got in about 5 mins of flight time before the plastic piece where the fly bar sits in sheered off... I was adjusting the trim, and was skipping on the carpet floor; it tipped slightly on it's side, and barely brushed the flybar. It was so minor....the blades weren't even moving at that point...I was shocked that something would break. Of course, parts are on backorder. But, the shop may steal stuff from their demo unit for warranty replacement. This is clearly a production flaw.
Until this occurred, everything was going great... It's incredibly stable even with the trim out a bit. It seem less responsive than the Venom Outback though... The price of parts is pretty amazing...a full set of blades for $4!!! The Outback ones cost me $35, and they were brittle. I think that I'll be happy once I get past this problem. If necessary, I should be able to use the shaft from a Housefly, and cut it to the right length. Right now, I'm just very disappointed that I can't fly tonight after waiting a month for this heli. |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
I would not worry about getting replacement blades. The flybar head and lower rotor head will break first. I have did it twice and the blades don't have a scratch. Lower rotor shears blade pins and it is $5.99. The inner shaft which is the only way you can get the flybar head is $8.99. Until they upgrade it will be the parts you need most. Sure wish you could get the flybar head piece separately

RE: Eflite Blade CX
I replaced my flybar head and main shaft and it wobbled terribly just at lift off. I changed all the blades and same thing. I completely took it apart and put it back together and same wobble.
After a couple of days fooling around with it I changed the head and shaft to another new one and the wobble was gone. The first (new) one shows no sign of a problem but it was bad right from the package. The second thing that I discovered is if you do not glue in the head top piece to the shaft piece it will not break if you tip it over. The head simply pops out. I flew it all around my garage last night, three packs worth and had a ball. Now if I can get my 25% Cap to fly in my garage I will be doing something. |
RE: Eflite Blade CX
Man, you got that right... Look at it the wrong way, and that piece breaks...
Horizon has the part in stock, so I'll be up again soon. In the meantime, I bought another BCX. If this one sheers the same part before they're in stock, I'm going to lose it. LOL It would be nice if Horizon had some comment on the one piece vs two piece observations that people have made here. The manual clearly shows 2 components, but both of mine definitely do not have a pop-off flybar holder... It's either solid, or was glued or fused together. It's definitely a flaw, and the supplier/distributor should be covering under warrantly. ORIGINAL: sjm I would not worry about getting replacement blades. RE: Eflite Blade CX
Hi i made the observation. i learned this while at a local shop and seeing the replacment part as well as talking to the owner of a bcx who replaced it and i also flew his bcx. i checked my manual just to make sure when i got home from the shop. if the coupler for fly bar is glued or not doesnt seem to be the cause of its failure in my opinion/its the fact that the bcx is crashed and the part fails from impact. i witnessed this in the hobby shop since the owner crashed it again after a couple minutes or so of flight and broke the same part which hadnt been glued. this isnt exactly a controlled test but showed glued or unglued this part can fail when there is crash. i would also like to state if the part that is failing is due to a crash or from the heli falling from a table etc its not a warranty issue. something else to consider is if this part is made more rugged then it will generate more force to another component possibly creating more overall damage. im sure horizon is doing there best to address customer concerns.
