RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Jellyson and Tall Paul,
I just order a bucket of parts too, got the blue swashplate. Wasn't home when the post guy was here. Have to pick it up tomorrow at the Post Office. Darn. I'll let ya know what mine does, (how it fits). I purchased a set of ball-link pliers a couple months ago, wish I did that way back when. Expensive, yes, but they are a blessing. Jellyson, the DX6 and DX7 system does make set-up a lot easier. Where's my wallet? Hmmmm, yep the wife took it to the Mall. Dave / Choppersrule ORIGINAL: Jellyson Well, I'm just flabbergasted. I just installed a brand new blue EFlite swashplate on my BCPP, the balls were rather large I thought, and my links definitely only would go on one way, and just barely that way. Now what about the flybar hoops, surely those are one-way on yours? Of course the larger Align and HeliMax links are definitely one-way, they are even marked, I hope I am at least not wrong about that! But that's good, Tall Paul, that means if your links are not one-way you have more adjustablility (or something...) I'm just glad I switched the radio to something that has adjustable sub-trims. It made setting mine up a lot easier for sure. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I tried the flybar links also... had to install a new one anyway.. Same thing.. omni-directional.. :)
And I put a bundle of parts on my WalkerA Dragonfly 4... also either-direction ball links. |

Mine are, so, like fer sure, so totally one-way, duude...
I can't explain it, but these links are definitely one-way, and I figured they all must be that way.... apologies if I misled anyone. (I show two links of each type, one facing one way and one the other. As you can see, the holes are different sizes.) Now if I can just get it back together, it flew soo nice... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Has anyone tried the sim Pre-Flight? I ordered it a wile ago but I could never get my Tx to work with it. I can't find any contact info on their sight so I can't ask them. If anyone has had this problem and knows how to fix it it would be great. My computer finds the Tx but the sim doesn't [:@] it just keeps getting windier and colder.
Thanks a lot, Justin:D |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I downloaded the Clearview sim and got the mile high wings cord for my DX6. Works and looks great for 60 bucks and I use MY TX!

Oh, they love me at the LHS.
I got a brushless motor for my BCPP, and just installed it and did the first indoor flight. HOO boy, who needs a TRex. This thing would chew a hole in the ceiling if I let it. Sounds like there's a helicopter in my room. I am really amazed, can't wait to get it outside where I can get it above half-throttle. I'm going to have to play with the throttle and pitch curves to make it behave like a helicopter again instead of some antigravity UFO or something. I actually considered putting the stock motor back in, just so I could calm down and keep flying it indoors... Here's what I got: EFlite/Hacker E3-49 brushless, 4900 kV, 7 amps continuous, 12 max GWS 15 amp esc w/2 amp bec 8 tooth pinion I already had the 1320 mAh 13C battery It really gives the gyro/tail motor a workout too. The DD tail keeps up on acceleration, but can't hold the tail on fast deceleration in normal mode. It's a bit better in idle-up. The collective response is amazing, with all that power spinning the head. No drop in headspeed at full pitch, at least I don't think so, I could only get there for a fraction of a second, I only have an eight-foot ceiling. Problems: The GWS esc seems to have a slight brake at the bottom end, annoying but maybe it can be programmed out. I wish I had bought the EFlite 20 amp unit. BIG problem: the shaft of the Hacker motor was slightly excessively too large enough. I broke 2 pinions trying to press them on before I woke up and miked the shaft: The "2mm" stock motor shaft measures 0.0784 inch, and the Hacker "2mm" shaft measured 0.0798 inch. That's almost one and a half thousandths of an inch too big. WAAY too big for even a permanent press-fit of a small brass gear. Now how did I reduce the size of that hardened and centerless-ground shaft without screwing it up? That would be telling... (No i didn't drill out the pinion, i did reduce the shaft.) But if anyone else does this mod I suggest they mike the shaft, and ask the LHS to put the pinion on for you. See if they can do it. I bet they can't. |

Here are a couple more pics of links. I don't know if the hole sizes are deliberate (I believe they are) or are a result of the manufacturing process, but they are definitely and consistently different sizes front and back. I know they fit better if the little marks I have indicated face the ball on installation.
Get a new set of links and try it yourself, sports fans, if you don't believe me. These are one-way links and should be turned by full turns for adjustment, or they will bind and eventually distort. Of course the other explanation is that we here in the frozen north are getting different product ... |

Oh, they must all be out at their LHSs buying brushlesses for their BCPPs. (Sounds indecent, sort of...) I'll show you mine if you show me yours: See... |

More news if anybody cares:
I put an EFlite aluminum swashplate on. Not impressed with the little aluminum balls but overall the performance and handling is much improved because the links fit more tightly. I heard that the threads were weak (thanks Dave) and I believe it--the balls seem like soft aluminum rather than 6061 or 7075 like it should be. The rest of the swash is a harder alloy. Yes, this is a recommended purchase. See below: Align TRex stainless steel balls fit! And the Align link sockets fit the BCPP servo pushrods. The only difficulty is getting the original aluminum balls off the swash. They are supposed to be 1.5 mm allen sockets but mine were stripped out as received and I had to use a little torx bit to get them to unscrew. But if you intend to use the Align balls and links you can just unscrew the original balls with pliers and toss them. I'm talking about the three outer swash ccpm balls. I haven't figured out how to change the inner balls/links yet. And yes, sports fans, the Align ball sockets are also one-way. If they are put on backwards they will go on too far and bind. Unless they have already been distorted by improper assembly, in which case I recommend that they be replaced. So what this means is that all these linkages must be adjusted by full turns, not half-turns, unless you have z-bends at the servo arms and can switch them front-and-back (unlikely, impossible on the BCPP). (my MX400Pro also has one-way links but I have no spares and I'm not going to take that helicopter apart, hopefully you will believe me by this point) (nobody around here carries Walkera so I can't speak about those...) DD TAIL mod!
I used stock motor mount, cn12-rxc motor w/ prop adapter, 4530 prop. and Microheli CF tail fin. This is night and day better perfomance than the dual motor setup I took off! Basically same price and the props a a buck a piece. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Jellyson
Guess the micoheli swash would be worth ordering since it is good alum. with a stainless ball..... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Robmoney,
Wish I new about the micoheli swash a couple weeks ago, I just got my E-flite alum. swash a few days ago. I installed it and it does work very well. Much smoother than the plastic. The balls on this swash are a little larger than on the stock plastic swash, and the balls are somewhat inferior, but again works well. It's hard to push the paddle control frame pushrod onto the ball. Make sure you use ball link pliers to take paddle control frame and/or servo links off. If you use your fingers, you may pull the ball right out of the swash plate and no way to repair it for the average dude like me. It happened to me about six months ago. Robmoney, do you have a web-site for the micoheli. The Eflite one I got I put on the Pro, I'd take it off and put it on the CP and put the mico on the Pro. Thanks, Dave / Choppersrule ORIGINAL: robmoney Jellyson Guess the micoheli swash would be worth ordering since it is good alum. with a stainless ball..... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
robmoney, you should mount the motor on the other side of the boom. That way it will be pulling instead of pushing and the air will be blowing over the motor thus helping in the cooling. Some think they are more efficient in this configuration as well.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I am going to get another stock motor mount and get the mounting a little better AND flip it over!
After dremeling the stock one, I now know how to go about it and get it a little more precise.. www.microheli.com These parts seem to be very well made..... |

GWS DD Tail motor, Microheli fin, stock 3in1 (still), Telebee HH, Eflight Park 370 4100 kv BL, Eflight 20A esc, DX6, and stock 800 battery! I am at 339 grams flying weight with 800 mah Lipo. I really like the new CP PRO Yellow canopy! MUCH easier to keep oriented in flight! Flies like a dream. Head speed increases GREATLY and improves stability an amazing amount. Sounds like a turbine engine kinda! I can get CX2 like stable hover with VERY little input in the garage! Enjoy. |

Robmoney,
Great pitures, you've got it all together and it looks sweet. And all the upgrades, wow, yep the wallet ($$$$) thing. I've been thinking of the brushless and all the other upgrades for a couple months. After your post, I think I'm on my way. The only thing left you need is the Super Skids Version 3, they are cool. See attached picture. A little expensive, but it is a hobby to have fun with. Only place to get version 3 is at Gary's site. Super-skids.com. You can get V2 from other sites, but the V3 is much beefer and really looks good. I agree the new yellow canopy is much easier to see in flight than almost any color. And the CX2, got mine a few weeks ago, love it too, great to fly in a relaxed arena. I ordered some of of the cnc parts for the CX2. Dave / Choppersrule ORIGINAL: robmoney Fruits of my labor today! Choppersrule here....
Carbon fiber blades... Was out in the garage, do it all the time, well... I got a little bit to cocky tonight. Slamed into the vertical leg of my workbench. Pilot error, oops. Must have caught the leg of the workbench, just right. Busted both CF blades. See pitures. You could hear the slam all through the house, BAM. Double BAM. I've got the 7.5 amp fuse on the main motor and use a paper clip as the shear pin inthe rotor. The paper clip snapped and saved the day. Fuse held. Saved the 3-in1, too. No other damage. Another lesson learned, don't get to aggressive and fly beyond you ability. Only need a set of blades. Dave / Choppersrule |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Had my first real crash a few days ago. Bent main shaft and some other broken parts. It's all fixed up but the head was vibrating a little. I think it's just that the blade grips were too tight.
Has any one tried the G500T Tail Lock Ring Gyro? How does it compare to E-flite's Tail locking? I think I'll buy the Spektrum DX6 and the G500T Tail Lock Ring Gyro is its any good. Thanks Justin |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Wow. See what happens when you go shopping....
Beautiful pics robmoney. I'm up to 408 grams, how do you keep so sleek and slim? Dave, Ouch, those darn things are expensive, wonder if the ehirobo ones i see so cheaply advertised are any good? I've managed to keep my CF set in one piece (two pieces?) so far, just one little nick on the top surface of one from that last crash... Commander Bob, that looks like a fine gyro, I think I'll probably try one when I build up a TRex after Christmas. For the BCPP it would be overkill I'm afraid, as we are up against limits imposed by the motor-driven tail. To really appreciate the JR G500T gyro you will need a controllable-pitch tail. The EFlite G90 probably does as well as any gyro could under the circumstances, I know people who use them on the TRex too, as it has digital capability while the ALign rce500x does not. And I recommend that you get a DX7 if you plan to stay in the hobby, I have a DX6 and it's a fine TX but I want a DX7 baaaad...it has a bunch of features I have convinced myself I need... Only drag is the servos, they are huge, I don't have anything they will fit. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Enticer, I never thought about putting the tail motor on the other side. I'll look into that...thanks for the suggestion.
But one advantage of the present mount is that you can switch back and forth easily, I guess that's an advantage... |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Jellyson:
I am hoping to get parts that I could later use in a T-rex so the gyro looks good. Thanks a lot Justin |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Then definitely get the DX7. You'll wish you had, when you start flying the 450. Don't expect to be able to use the servos, the DX6 s75s will fit but they are junk, and the DX7 digitals are _huge_, they won't fit.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Commander_Bob,
Jellysons right about the DX7, I've got the DX6 and it's a great radio system, glitch free and that's a big plus. The S75's are okay, and I say that lightly. The TRex 450 combo package came with the DX6 and S75s. There okay for back yard flying, but won't hangle much stress. The DX7 does have alot of features the DX6 doesn't. Another plus, is the the receiver for the DX6 will work with the DX7 TX. But not the other way around. Sooo, if you have multiple helis, you just need one tx and a bunch of receivers. You just bind each rx to the single tx. Also, the DX7 can be program for up to 20 different heli/plane combonations. Really cool equipment. And an excellent system for the Trex you plan on gettin'. Jellyson, The carbon fibers sym blades I broke, was totally my fault. Was trying to do fancy crap in the garage. Learned another lesson. I get 95% of my parts from Hobby Zone, been ordiering there for 8 months or more and never had a back-order. get you stuff in 3 to 4 days. Also, they carry plastic syms and flat blades for the CP/Pro. There 20 bucks, but what the heck. Had the carbon fibers I broke for 6 months or so. Puttin' everything into perspective, I'm gonna do a one stop shopping at Hobby Zone and order a bunch of stuff. Hobby Zone website, plastic blades almost to the end of the page: http://secure.hobbyzone.com/catalog/...epro_optional/ Robmoney, Thanks for the info. on the brushless setup. I think I'll go the whole 9 yards and upgrade/bling the whole thing out with all the options avaliable. A nice winter project, probably order all the parts Monday or Tuesday. Hmmm, another couple hundred, where does it stop?:D Honest, I'm gonna try to fly better.[sm=spinnyeyes.gif][sm=wink_smile.gif] Alot of good info. and ideas on this thread, keep 'er up, you guys are great. And what has it become? (I'm hoping the superskids will arrive soon, before I crash this version...) |

My weight being down is due to the 800 stock battery, I know it is not that great of a C rating, but they are paid for and work... |
