RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I checked that, it lifts off a little, but not very much. It spools up fine, but im at the top and its going up a little. I did rebuild it, but at no point did i ever take the motor out.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
You might just need to make your pitch links a little longer. That will give you more pitch and more lift and if you rebuilt it you could of accidental twisted them.
Just pop them off and make it one-one half turn longer but make shure you do both of them. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Well yesterday and today I started playing around with taking off from the floor and landing on the ping pong table, then doing the opposite - most of you probably know where I'm going with this... Seemed like fun, and was, but tonite I took off from the table and of course I didn't have the lift I thought I had, and wacked the edge of the table about mid rotor blade. It snapped one of my plasti blades in half, busted a blade grip, and stripped 2 servos of a couple of teeth. Luckily I had a few spare parts, but the servos are another story. I do have a couple of micro futabas I could put in this thing though.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Wow. You mustve really wacked it. thats the first time Ive ever heard of someone breaking a plastic blade. Although if youve had a few hard hits that wouldve broken woodies that 1 set of plastics has probably more than paid for themselves.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
That's good to know... The little Futabas are a little long for the mount and would come in contact with the motor. Just hope the gear set isn't mega bucks. I have to admit though, for as much as I've spent in parts for this thing, it's been a blast... A complete new experience from my fixed wings!!!
I think I'll stay away from the ping pong table for a while. You know, it's amazing how much abuse even wood blades will take. A brush on the floor will amount to nothing. A tip over will get you a cracked "skin" (the plastic). A wack with an object (lightly) will dent the blade and bend the main shaft. Once again, my plasti blades got a full on, full throttle blow to the edge of the ping pong table, and that blade was sheared in half. The shaft did not bend in this case, but it was probably due to the heli dropping the way it did, and the blade catching mid-blade on the edge of the table (enough mass / inertia that the blade grip couldn't pivot the blade fast enough to overcome the mass of the airframe - probably why the servos stripped as well - talk about over analysis). I keep pondering the TRex SE... I think my own judgement of my abilities will allot the TRex XL CDE instead. I just thought of something though!!! Could "dumb down" the SE and run a complete plastic head while learning to save the aluminum head for later, more controlled proficient flight??? Anyone know what a complete plastic head costs??? MPB |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I think you could put the plastic head on a SE. I'm no expert though......I am an expert on replacing main gears in my CP though...:D:D:D
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Well I got everything torn down and it appears that I will get away with only one servo that has stripped out. So, new set of blades, blade grip, and servo gears (only $3)... presto... I'll be flying again!
ON the T-Rex... I had a couple of guys at my LHS that I should get the SE, as the aluminum parts are more durable in "light" crashes than the plastic parts. One of the guys had the proof (an SE) there. So I guess I'm going for an SE. I'll still fly my CPP though also. All three guys said that if I can fly the CPP that I won't have any trouble with the 450SE. I guess we'll see. MPB |

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
If youre talking about the aluminum head then its already out. Its only $130 Canadian here. My LHS has 1 in stock and its pretty impressive looking. I think it may only come in silver though. Still awesome looking though.
Of course if this isnt what youre referring to then Ill just shut my yapper. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
How do you set up the heading lock gyro on the cp pro with the futaba 9c ?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I ordered a set of these "great" blades and they are absolute crap. They don't react well at all and caused me to crash! [:@]
I had to order a some spare parts from the folks I bought my pro from (diversionhobbies.com, got another good deal on them, looks like I'll be ordering from them ONLY from now on) but I'm just ticked I had to buy parts in the first place. |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Better get used to it. If youre new to the heli world then buying parts is gonna be your second hobby. The CP can get very frustrating at times but once you start getting good on it the parts list gets smaller and smaller.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Yea, ive spent at least half of my allowance on the helis and planes and the other half goes to the spare parts for these things!!! They can probably give the helis away for free and make a fortune selling the parts!
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I got plasti blades a few days ago and wow! They are so much more stable and much more easy to fly. If you are new to flying I would definitely buy a pair of them because unlike the woodies when you crash the blades are a little flexible and absorb shock instead of breaking. After two sets of woodies, I am going to stick with the plasti.
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Are plastic better than the carbon fibre blades?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
It depends... If you're new to helis then you should consider plastics. If more experienced (IE you won't run into anything) than by all means go with the CF Units. Otherwise, those $30 blades won't last long.

RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Hmmm... how do you now when the tail motor is failing? I have used my current motor for 27 flights, and it has been needing quite a bit of right trim lately. Does the tail usually fail slowly or all of a sudden?
|
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Sox,
When you have to put in alot of right trim, it's a very good indicator that the tail motor is starting to wear out. Spend the 10 bucks. Had this happen to me several times. The tail motors are famous for going bad. I had one that lasted only 3 or 4 flights, others 30+ flights. Go figure..... Dave / Choppersrule |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
I took off the training gear!!! wow it is so much more resonsive!
It flys more like I thought flying a heli would feel like. so far I have only cracked the tail boom but nothing more that a little tape could not fix. Flys great but right now its a little windy Cant wait to get more stick time! also the reson i think this thread has died out is because after the inital "Wow" there has been nothing wrong with these little helis! I love mine |

Commander_Bob,
Yep, the Pro is an awesome little bird for the price. Takes time to get the feel of it, as you know. Glad to hear the training gear is off. Makes a lot of difference doesn't it. I'm a slow flyer, back yard stuff. I've got about 30 flights or more and no, yes, no mishaps with the Pro. Oops, one broken blade. See pictures of the super-skids I put on tonight before and after shots. Look cool and very sturdy.. This is version 3, I have version 2 on the CP. The version 3 is much better and worth the extra bucks. You can fix almost anything with tape.:):) Dave / Choppersrule |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Choppersrule, the V3 looks good man. Did you use the antenna tube? I didn't with mine but I'm thinking of doing it especially after reading about so many having glitches lately. I didn't do it because like an idiot I couldn't think of what to do with the excess wire but now I realize that I could just wrap the excess around the antenna tube, duh.
Also, you ever fly a Ikarus Piccolo Fun? It was my first heli and after getting frustrated with it I packed it up, 2 years later after flying the BCPP I learned my problem was trimming the Piccolo. Needless to say today was it's maiden flight:D:D! These things are SOOO addictive;). Jon |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
Heres something for us BCPP owners. The first time I took my blade grips apart to replace a bent spindle, there was an extra washer that is not shown in the parts breakdown. I thought I knew where it went, and that was confirmed by the heli guy at one LHS. I then experience a yo yo effect, but with a lot of things going on, I didn't put 2 and 2 together. After replacing motor and servos, I went back to checking the spindle assy. Another guy at a different LHS said the extra washer was a shim, and went next to the o-ring. I called Horizon today, and the technician confirmed this. He said it was probably determined that it was needed during the pre-flight before shipping. Yes, they do fly them all, one or two minutes. He said they don't show it in the parts breakdown because the number will vary. This is a flat, thin, washer without a step. It goes next to the o-ring.
Just thought this might help someone save some time. orlbuzz |
RE: E-FLITE BLADE CP PRO
jm_obrien,
Yes, I did use the antenna tube. I never liked the white receiver wire though , I took a black magic marker, wide tip, and made the wire black, also, the tube. You hardly notice it that way, only takes five minutes. I never flew an Ikarus Piccolo. I've only been in the hobby since January of this year. Helis I've got in order of purchase. Coco-Lama, Blade CX, Blade CP, Falcon 3D, Blade CP Pro and the Raptor G2. You're right, it is an addictive hobby to say the least. Just ask my wallet.:D I know the UPS and FED EX guys by first name, from all the birds and parts they deliver. Orlbuzz: Thanks for the tip, the shim washer can make a difference in steady hovering or ff, if too tight you get the hops. I lubricate pretty much everything that moves, except for linkage assemblies. I use a teflon spray and wipe off the excess with a q-tip. I spend probably 60 percent of the time in maintenace, repairs, charging batteries and 40 percent in flying. Sometimes more in repair, depends on how bad the crash was.[:@] Dave / Choppersrule |
