Cooldude
I neved considered the demand on the servos, but I would think that by making the plane less stable axially, it would take less force to make the plane roll.

I got my Turnigy 35-36C mounted and tested last night. I had to get a new ESC.
Turns out the Super Simple 40A was faulty. Oh well, only $12.
I got a Thunderbird 36A at my LHS and it's working perfectly.

I"m planning to try it out tonight if the weather is good.

Thats a good esc I have a friend that run the 54 in that series he likes it....just like the super simple....plug N play....well I flew my MPXT today with the new motor and it is just unbelievably FAST...it has so much power its crazy for a little pulse....this motor will work perfect for the pulse 25e that I'm thinking of gettin soon...I think I'll run it as an 4s though. this motor realy taxes my 3s batterys....I'm getting about five minute flights....dosen't sound like a long time but after flying like my hairs on fire its long enough.."LOL"..

So how did your flight go???? Is it as fast as you thought it would be????

I flew it yesterday with the Turnigy 35-36C and it's a whole lot faster than it was! Much more torque and punches straight up for unlimited vertical.
My friend said it was like a pressing the NOS switch on a race car when I went from half to full throttle. It was pretty darn awsome!

I used washers in the bottom of the engine mount to eliminate the down angle of the motor (like you suggested) and I think one needs to come out.
At full throttle, it wants to climb like a mother, so I think it needs just a little bit of down angle.

I tried 11x7 and 10x7 APC props. The 10x7 seemed to be a little faster and had longer flight times.
I purchased a couple more props to try out this weekend. 11x5.5, 10x5, and 9x6.
I'm looking more for power to do better acrobatics than top speed.
It doesn't go 90mph, but it's easily another 20+mph faster than it was with the stock Park 450.

What's been your best prop? For speed? For acrobatics?

Thanks!!!!

I'm running the apc-e 9x7.5 for the speed........and wow what speed with the new SK series 3536............and I tryed the 10x8 for aerobatics and it worked well.....I've picked up a 11x7 I'm going to check it out tomorrow......it hovered pretty good for a sport plane on the 10x8...LOL...it was just funny seeing a sport plane in 3D mode...

I tried a 10x8 prop yesterday too and it worked very well. I used one of the 10x8-SF props, and it held up ok but I'm not going to continue with it.
I havn't tried hovering (yet), but I did do some nice knife edge passes.

Yes, That Turnigy looks really good. What spinner is it? Does it come with the motor?
TIA

I took my MP up yesterday in some windy conditions. The wind seemed to be coming in steady from the south west, but after I was up the wind started getting erratic. Made for some interesting flying. It is nice to have the 480 on the MP now so I can get out of trouble better. The wind gusts really kicked the plane around. I was a bit surprised because it didn't seem too strong on the ground, but up in the air the wind was playing havoc. I am still enjoying the plane without landing gear. It is very easy to belly land and the roll rate is so much better.

Anybody else still flying this plane?

I flew the Pulse this past weekend. It had been awhile since I took her up. I'm using Xcite 3S 1800s along with the Eflite 480 and Eflite 40A ESC. She did great and easily took the 8-10 mph winds on Sunday. Overall, it's a great plane and a really quiet and fast one at that. I will agree, compared to the roll rate on my PA Electric Shock, it kinda' stinks, but that isn't as much what this plane is really for. I just use her as a cruiser. What batteries are you using?

I like the Zippy 2200mah 20C.
Never gets puffy and only costs $19.95 + shipping.

When mine was flyable I was running the Thunder Power 2100 3s Pro-Lites. It was a great setup.

I am using a 2200 zippy and I am very happy with it especially considering the price. Way better than my eflite packs.

Anybody think this would be a possible setup?

Scorpion 3014-18 motor
lipo 2200 mah
45 amp esc
hs-65s all around

Its the engine I'm more comfused about, is it overkill??
Any suggstions on how to mount it as well?
And will the servos fit, they are.... L=92 .W=45 .H=94

thanks

rascusn3,

Nice pics. The MP looks so great in the air. I keep thinking maybe I'll get another sport plane, but I don't know why unless I get a bigger one. The MP can do everything I want to do right not. I don't do 3D although it can just about harrier and hover, just not very well. I am still working on knife edge, and patterns. Sometimes I just like to take the MP up and putter around. It is just a blast.

Happy Flying

Had a radio issue today. I was flying because the wind finally was not blowing, although it was cold. All was well until I lost radio contact. Luckily, the plane had some elevator and slight yaw and it just slowly circled to the ground. I thought that maybe my batery connection was bad, but no, it was fine. The ESC still had power, just no radio. Took it inside and all wires were still connected to the receiver, and the radio was now working?????? Any ideas?

I have a JR600 sport radio and a berg 7ch receiver, two HS-55's on ailerons and two HS-56's on the tail. I have never had any radio issues with this set-up, but there is a first time for everything.

Thanks for any help you can give me. I am not too keen on taking my MP up again until I have figured things out. Right now, it gets fine reception. Range tests are fine. Range test with motor running are fine. Could the cold have been the culprit?

Derek, with electrical stuff, loose or broken wires are always what I look at first. Have you given every wire the wiggle test? Have you range tested with the motor running? (vibration possibly causing loose wire to act weird)

Bottom line is my electrical issues have almost always actually been mechanical, not electronic.

What you're saying makes perfect sense, I will check all the wires. I barely went over them on the site, but not very intently. Thank you for your advice.
