Default using a seperate BEC

Hi Guys,
I want to buy an electric B-17 that uses 7 servos and has electric retracts that use lots of amps. I heard it is best to use a sperate BEC? Can someone please explane how this works and how to set it up? All of my electric flying has been done with small parkflyers and EDF`swhich had a esc. with 3amp bec, so I never had a need for a sperate BEC.
thanks,
Frank

Question
I am setting up a model airplane to use an electric motor that will draw approx. 50 amps. The supplier provided a 60amp ESC and a seperate BEC. How do I hook the BEC up in this system?

Answer

Just connect the BEC to the battery and the output to the receiver battery port.

If the brushed motor ESC has a built in BEC ist must be disabled by disconnecting the red wire from the ESC to the receiver. The red pin can be removed from the ESC plug to the receiver and taped or the red wire can be cut and taped. Removing is the best/neatest solution.

That should do it.

Thanks Red,

No, you use the flight battery that powers the motors. If you are going to use a separate receiver/servo battery you don't need the BEC (Battery Eliminator Circuit) in the first place.
