From: San Francisco, CA,
I recently built a T3D II Wild Beast and flew it for the first time yesterday. After about half a lap the battery popped out of the battery compartment and hung by the wire. The best I could do was belly flop into a pine tree (I was going very slow, so no damage). Today I took it out again, I wedged a toothpick across the battery compartment to wedge the battery in. Again after about 10 seconds of flight the battery popped out and hung by the wires. With the balance shifting wildly I was able to set it down softly in the grass. So how do you guys secure the battery on these things? The battery compartment is up in the nose of the plane with foam sides surrounding the foam fuselage, with the bottom open. I'm using a 3 ounce LiPo. Any of you guys who fly this plane or the original T3D Cap have a suggestion? Ideally I'd like to come up with some sort of lightweight clipping method so I can swap out batteries quickly and easily.

[8D] I don't know if this would work for you Rollio but I use two sided tape to hold my batteries in. Of course this is attached to plywood which is not foam. But could you spread epoxy to the top of the battery compartment and then attach two sided tape to the batteries and top of the compartment? You could remove them this way and I would think they would stay in place.

The problem with tape or velcro is that the surface area I have to stick to is likely too small. The battery is a Kokam 1500mah LiPo and it slides in sideways, meaning the only place I could put velcro on it would be along one of the narrow edges, I'm not sure that would provide enough grip but I suppose I could try it.

Can you cut a small hole in the plane just above or below the battery and use some hook and loop velcro. That way you could just slid the battery in and pull the velcro tight around it.
