Default Estarter Set Up...

Hi,

I am new to electric, I usually fly glow. I have a nice lake near my house that
does not allow any gas engines at all, so I figured I would get an E-Starter
and put some floats on it for some nice easy flying.

I have this equipment so far:
EPS-400c motor
GWS R-6NII/H Receiver
GWS Pico servos

Directions state they I need a ICS-100 or ICS-400 ESC.
What are these numbers, do they just correspond to the
motor size? Can I use an ESC-480?

Next, Directions say to use a NiMh 7.2~8.4V 500~730 mAh.
I was thinking of going to Li-Poly instead, what should I get?

Finally, I don't want to use low heat covering, just want to
throw some paint on it, what kind of paint should I use for
the foam?

Thanks!

Not sure about the paint! I think the 400 setup can use 3's (2's would be way underpowered) or at the very least get 8 Kan1050 cells as far as a speed control, any 15A or greater will be fine! NOT the ICS-100

Enjoy, it's a perfect plane for floats!

The GWS ESC's numbers are not for motor sizes. For example the ICS400 is a 15amp controller. Do not use the GWS battery packs as they are all underpowered. For paint use the Testors Master spray paint, it is safe for foam. You can use the 480 ESC but it is a bit heavy. My suggestion is to go with the Castle Creations Pixie 20 for 39.00. It is small and light weight and 20amps is more than enough for most brushed motor parkflyer applications. A 3s1p 1500 Lipo will work well with the 400 motor and will be much lighter than a nimh or nicad pack.
