Default Speed Controller

The instruction manual that came with my speed controller says it will supply enough power(5 volts) for one standard sized servo.
The speed controller is a Tekin 410s out of my R/C 10 buggy.
My question is ,Can I damage this speed controller if I use two or three servos, std. or mini ?
I reckon this speedy would do well in an electric glider speed 600 or somthin.
any advise appreciated,thanks

Short answer: Yes you CAN damage it by using more servos. The BEC can pass a limited amount of current. Exceed that amount, and you burn it up.

The question is, will you? Maybe. The BEC might be able to handle it, and the manufacturer is just covering their butts by limiting it to one servo.

I must point out an exception to what Matt said. The parts used in most common BECs have a thermal shut down circuit and short circuit protection. If the BEC device is functioning correctly you can not burn it out with too many servos. I can provide data sheets to back up my position.

It's really irrelevant if the BEC shuts down for thermal overtemp or if the regulator burns out. Either way means the plane is going to be toast. A cheap 600mah Nimh Rx battery only weighs 2oz and costs U$15 or so.
