Hi all,
i seem to mainly post in the crashes forum, but i plan to post here first, thus hopefully avoiding faillure.
A mate and I are in the proces of developing a way to drop something off/out of a plane, and he came up with an idea of using electro magnets to keep the object attached to the underside of the fuselage until the power to the elctromag was cut and the object would fall.
This seemed a brilliant method because it had no moving parts to go wrong, wheras using a claw to hold it under the plane has alot of parts to work, and thus there is a higher chance of failure.
The one question i have is- will amoderate electromagnetic field disrupt the receiver in the plane?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Not sure, it might. Not worth the risk if you ask me. If you have a 6 channel Transmitter and receiver you can just use a servo on the landing gear/retract switch (channel 5 or 6 depending). Attach the servo to some make shift "Bombay" doors via a coupler and piano wire or something of that nature, or you could go without doors that open and close and make some kind of pin release or something when you trigger the switch.

The magnet draws power and it kind of heavy. I would just use a servo to remove a pin from three eyebolts, one attached to the "bomb" and two to the plane sandwiching the one on the "bomb". I was actually thinking of ways to drop an object, but mine involve doors and complex mechanisms to open the doors and drop the object with one servo (I'm an engineering student so its what I do
). I hope you understand what I'm talking about. If not then let me know and I will draw you one of my high quality MS Paint pictures (I need a face to indicate sarcasm here).
