I love the idea read recently of "Electrifying" a Global (Modeltech) .46 81" w/s Piper Cub. The article by Neal Capener on ModelTech's site gives details of a Aveox 1409/3 Electric Motor + L260 Controller and 16 2A cells for power.
I wonder if anyone else has used this model with Electric power??

The key here is to not wait for other people to do the conversion first, but to forge ahead and get as many good-flying electric planes out there as possible! ![Smile](https://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif)
What I've been watching for a while is the "outrunner" brushless technology. This is where the outside of the motor turns instead of the inside, making for a high-torque motor that can spin a large prop slowly and efficiently without a gearbox. A promising replacement for a .46-size engine appears to be the AXi 4120/14 and 4120/18 motors, on 14-24 cells. I plan on using a 4120/14 and 16 cells on a .46-size Corsair ARF.

Sounds good. I've seen a few of these new motors here in the UK. Will do a market survey and see what's available. It may be better to put a greater outlay into the motor and not need a gearbox. May also be a weight saving.
I am about halfway into building an ACE 1/4 scale Taylorcraft which will have a 21cc McCulloch Gas Engine . . . . so the Electric Piper is almost the other extreme. I will order the Gloabl Cub soon and start gathering bits!!!
