Default Silverlit 737 problem

I recently got the Silverlit 737. I took it out last weekend for it's maiden flight and it flew pretty well and overall I was very happy with it. Now the last two nights I have flown it have been disastrous . It is now doing this really strange thing that I can't explain. It appears to have a real hard time maintaining level flight. It always wants to roll and pitch down to the left ultimately resulting in a crash, two quite serious. I tried trimming the controls to compensate to little or no effect, even with the trim slammed all the way to right. All the flying surfaces looks to be straight and true. When I toss it seems to glide straight, but it's hard to tell since it drops pretty fast and doesn't glide very far. Both motors seem to be working. It's really weird. I am at a loss. Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I got two off eBay. Both with 110VAC chargers and English manuals, so I’m guessing they were Canadian releases. ??
The first flew but was center balanced and was real touchy, just about anything would cause it to crash, which I did from about 80ft, breaking the fuse in half, and have now done some major surgery to lighten it overall and change the CG, plus I added lights.
The second flew great right out of the box and I’m not going to change anything.
I did notice and fixed a possible problem with the first one’s wings, the outer half of the wing past the fans were stressed into a slight downward curve by the clear tape, once I pealed it up and flattened the wing I reapplied it holding the wing straight like the other plane is and it seamed to help. Taking readings from the plane that flew good from the start the CG seams to be around 2&3/8†to 2&1/2†measured from the leading edge @ a 1/2" out from the fuselage line.

rocketpunch,
I’d check to see if either or both wings have warped. Being foam if it was stored leaning on a wing, or with something on the wing, that will warp it.
Check the battery, if it’s inserted in such a way as to change the CG. Being such a small plane and overweight with a short tail, it’s real touchy to small weight changes.
Also check to make sure there’s nothing, (grass, hair, ect…), wrapped around the fan blades or motor shaft, I’ve had that problem and it’s a pain to get out.
Let me know what you find.
Ric

Thanks for the info Ric. I got mine off of ebay too. Anyway, I'll check out the wings and CG like you suggested. The thing that I can't figure out is that it always rolls to the left, so maybe wing warpage is the culprit. One thing is for sure is when these guys crash, the crash HARD. I have already snapped my wing twice. Thank god for superglue.

Check that motor also, even a couple hundred RPM differance will cause it to pull to one side. I just haven't tried to pull the fan blades off yet..

new thought: you said you snapped a wing twice? Was it the same wing? If so it might be a little heaver one on side than the other.
Just a thought.

I'll post the mods I did to plane #1 soon.

What's the best way to tell if the motors are spinning the same speed other than by ear? I first trimmed it so it sounded like they where in sync, but it still pulled to the left. So I kept adding more right trim to compensate and it helped somewhat, but it still wanted to pull to the left., especially under full power. It will be flying level and then it will just roll to the left and down resulting in just plowing steeply into the ground nose first.

I think I have tracked down the problem. The left motor isn't putting out as much juice as the right. Trimming doesn't seem to be enough to correct the problem. The plane worked when I first got it an now it doesn't. Anyway, does anyone know how to correct this engine problem? Thanks!

Well, I just contacted Silverlit to tell them about my problem. We'll see what they say. If I don't get anywhere with them it goes under the knife. I'll be sure to post pictures
