Then you are going to pay at least twice the price for parts from the LHS for parts. That is were they really make their money.

When I got my first Exceed J-3 Cub 36'' wing span, I bought two of them for the price of one PZ J3-cub. So I had all the spare parts I needed. I upgraded it to brushless with HC parts for less than $30.00 including shipping.
I agree the parts are high priced.. I don't crash much at all so I really don't need extra parts just more batteries..
and for the planes listed, there really is no real comparison between the two planes
one has a 34" span the better has a 44" span, and that alone parts will be more
and again I agree the parts at your local HS is way over priced!

The problem is that I switched the songs after I did the credits It was a timeline thing.

A flight report from yesterday. I got the SU-26micro out and moved my rudder linkage to the closest hole, for maximum throw. Then since I was there I did the elevator as well . I have somehow gotten used to full throws on both the 4-site and the Sukhoi, and figured that I might as well get all the deflection I could.

At the same time I am flying these little batteries from HC, 160mah 30C, and they are fast. And they allow me to go fast enough to spit batteries in fast rolls or fast loops . So out I go with the plane with the switches in low and give it a toss. I hit the throttle and pull up and roll a couple of times, not slowing the 60* climb. Then I took a couple of laps to get some airspeed and just threw the plane around like it was a 1 meter size plane. I flipped the switches after the first set of rolls and loops. The amazing thing is that I now have some rudder authority . I could get the tail to visibly corkscew in a roll . I brought it in on the timer and found a new problem. I had to relearn how to land. That took a couple of passes, but I think it lands better in this configuration more control and better power.

Now some of you might be wondering if I messed with the ailerons. For this plane that requires surgery. Said surgery has been done and I will fly the plane on full everything as soon as I can.

Fern

I just got in a flight before the storm arrives, and noted that full rates are...85%, I will do something about that . This time I was not doing an "abuse the battery" flight, but a check flight. I will probably end the abusive flights. The plane was just as fun without the battery busting full throttle full time. The extra aileron made for much quicker and precise response. The roll rate was quicker, but not as fast as I thought it would be [X(]. With the new batteries, and the comfort in the High rates, this is a different airplane than the one I bought back when. And much more fun [X(]

Your welcome. I know that mine is a third generation M model, but I hope that the stuff in the XP model is as fun.

I thought it was a second Gen, unless you are counting your mods as a Gen

I have the bigger battery bay(2), and it had a smoking motor out of the box(3). I thought that I had m2 until posts indicated otherwise.

So how is this plane for a second plane? I just learned how to fly my J-3 and looking for a next plane. I see the xp version of this one but cant tell to much of a difference? Is it mainly just some added power?

GWS 5043 prop
and some 160mah or 240mah batteries.

What about changing the motor out. Is there a difference between the Sukhoi and P-51 or 4-site motor? Or are they just geared differently? What about adding a micro brushless motor and speed control? I thought I saw something on the H.K. website that would work.

Guys, the shaft is bent from nosing down to hard. I ordered a couple of shafts. I looked on the forum but i can`t find out how to remove the gear from the shaft. Thanks

It is simply pressed on. The nut on the back of the shaft is reverse threaded.

That's a nice new pain in the butt isn't it? I used to spit batteries on the 4-Site because I never stick them too hard (dang, sometime, when they are stuck too hard, you think you'll break the plane, pulling them out.) In fact, the battery location on the 4-Site is basically my only pet peeve about the plane.I do spit the 160mah more though.

On the other side, wow did I spit of lot of them with the PZ Mustang! Got tired of that and replaced the velcro yesterday, but didn't had a chance to try the new velcro yet. I'm also bending the wings a lot more since they do allow you to pull more Gs... You can loop, and loop, and loop, and yank the battery! I guess that's a good thing Luckily, both planes still fly quite well with the battery hanging out. (Bit worst on the 4-Site since it does get tangled in the wing...

I made a new battery pouch and put the velcro on sideways, guaranteed a good bond everytime, and I can use the batteries in the msr as well. I wonder what it would do to an mcx or a vapor?

Has anyone tried the original prop with the better motors and batteries?

I only fly my Vapor during my lunch time... Would not dare to put a 160mah in it since Ihave only 1 hour lunch... Seriously though, will have to try it soon. Expect close to 40minutes of easy flight, or probably 30 minutes of wild looping... That's another toy that is spitting batteries too... Will have to reverse the battery tray on it eventually... I use a small piece of wire to tie the battery in the place for now.

A friend of mine flew a Blade mSR outside yesterday, with a 160mah in it. Wow this thing can go HIGH and far. At some point, I could not tell if he was coming or going... There was no wind at all. This thing is awesome under any roof (even a small room), but somehow, it's almost boring when you can fly it that far or that high. Didn't time the flight though, but sure enough, it was longer than usual, even if my friend was gunning it all the time.

So I had a recent mid air disaster, that left the cowl torn up and the entire gearbox mounting area and the gearbox hors de combat. Ok, what happened is I was flying in a trough between 2 storm fronts, and the wind was less than predictable. And when I should have pulled the nose up to ride the wave, the nose was a touch down and I got driven into a roof rather dramatically.

I had a temporary form of PTSD and considered just buying a new one. I fought this off, although for $70 it was tough. Yesterday, I chose to see about repairing the plane as the second storm had left us with 20-30 mph winds[X(] . So I did fix the plane, and I hope to get to fly it in a while or tomorrow.

What? Pics? OK pics.

OUCH Fern!
Have some wind shear where I fly( a hole in the woods) and sometimes when the wind hits just right there just is not anything the pilot can do!!!

I have been using the TX that came with the P-51 until the other day when a friend gave me 2 TX both from P-51s.

I put one of them to use on the SU-26 and the airplane immediately became 100% easier to fly.

Seems that the TXs may vary in quality.

Just so you know, I've finally tried the Turnigy 160mah in one of my Vapor (sadly, that was an old beaten one with lots of tape and extra glue). Got only 30 minutes of flight time. Was expecting a lot more but I guess you also have to factor the extra battery weight as well... And that was relatively easy flying too. I have one that is nearly mint, so eventually, I'll have to do the test again when I have another 40 minutes where I just feel like flying easy, and easy, and easy, and easy.....

Supertiga, there is a way to re-calibrate those controllers. Here is the link, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...t=re+calibrate.

I have some new fuses on the way. One will go brushless, that gear is on the way as well, the other will stay brushed. Should make for a valid test.
