Hi
I was flying my Wind 50e today with a Hacker A50-16s and while throttling up for an up-line the motor made a horrible noise like gears stripping.
I filled out the repair request from Aero-models and will send it in tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone had an idea of what happened.
Thanks
Randy

I've heard of the magnet theory, possible.
On the ground the prop rotated back and forth only about 20 degrees.
I haven't taken it off the plane yet to see if I could see anything obvious, tomorrows project.
Oh, using 25% brake.

I'm assuming that if a magnet came loose at high rpm, there might be more damage.

hi Doug,
just logged on for info on just the same problem. i have a Hacker A40-10S and an airboss-80, i have found that the amps are spiking very quickely and the speed controller is kicking out from too many amps, it makes a terriable noise when this happens. Once i hooked up the watt/amp meter it was easy to see and i thought dialing back the throttle travel to keep the amps under control was the way to go but that means dialing the travel back to 37%, i think this is strange but was told to go ahead and run it for now. So, four flights later i have nothing at all working i have two ESCs and changed over and i still get nothing. Ido see the bind light blink on the rec. when flipping the switch. i have emailed the hobbyshop and have not heard back from them

do you think you are having the same problem?

oh , got to be a different problem then, the hobbyshop did want to know if i might have a "cold solder joint" somewhere so i reheated all five joints, it did not help me but that might help you with your trouble.

if i understand it right, a bad solder joint will cause high resistance and that causing high enough amps enough to trip the breaker in the esc.

Talked to repair this morning and the motor is fine, it's the soldier joint on one of the connectors. I plead ignorance since this is my first electric plane. haha

I dont think anytthing is wrong with either component.
Sometimes you run into motor/esc combos that just dont like to work together.
Try another esc and I bet you wont have an issue.
And always check your solder connections

Thanks Guys,
But check the date on the posts, this forum is 8 months old and the problem has been solved (see my last post #16, bad connection).
I wish a thread could be deleted......

Sorry for taking so long to get back. But I must tell that my problem was not the motor at all. It is the ESC. Because I had an 80amp ESC with a 40amp motor I never suspected the ESC couldn't run the motor and the reciever properly. The Hacker people sent me a CC 75 Ice and it's been running perfectly ever since.
