Default Idle up

Does anyone use an idle up function on their eletric setup, or just land with the prop not turning

Um, both. I use the Idle up while I'm flying. I have it set to the "idle" speed that I want to maintain for stall turns, spins, etc. I flip the idle up off for landing (so i'm 'dead stick') as well as on long downlines when I want the braking engaged.

Hi Mark,

Am Icorrect inpresuming that you cannot have an idle and braking. It is an either or situation?

Regards

Yes, that's correct.  The speed controllers don't apply braking until the throttle is all the way down.

Thanks Mark. I rather suspected that but it is good to know for sure!

I set mine up on a kill switch through the radio. I use Futaba, and have digital trims for throttle unlike JR. So all i do on final is hit the throttle kill, and the motor dies. When starting the motor, i initiate the kill switch, then hook up the batteries, my esc beeps a few times, then bump the throttle up and voila, she is ready to go.

I use brake, but idle up in a condition only for spin entry.
