Hi Dag,
I'm flying bipes.
Never flew a mono with a canaliser.
Did you try the canaliser at different incidence settings ? I'd be interested to hear what you found if you did.
Re what I'm saying above re light/heavy wings/tails;
You can have a 5000g model with a CG say at 25% where the wing weighs 1000g.
But you can have the same model at 5000g, CG at 25% and the wing weigh 700g.
Or the same model at 4700g, CG at 25% and wing at 700g.
I prefer the last one.
You can apply your set up to all 3 !!?

No, idid not try different settings of the canalizer. Because the aeroplane have a incidence at 0,3-0,5 deg and the canalizer will then have the same angle. The wing will have approx 0,4 + fuselage deck Angle 0,3-0,5= 0,7-0,9 deg. as said before With/without canalizer the the only Control surface to adjust was the rudder which become very sensetive With canalizer. So, for me its not necessary to have differnt settings of the canalizer.
The setup. weight of the plane will not matter except for the comp rules. That said, weight will be some part of the Equation of the moment of wing - tail and its surfaces. The heavier fuselage and tail, the Shorter moment.
All this thing affects how the airplane can be without trim/mix. I agree that there is no advantage to have a Heavy plane.

I got little curious what the model weight at World Championship (WC) and European Championship (EC) F3A.
I have not found any "Equipment list" from latest WC 2015 or EC 2016 but from WC 2013 and EC 2014 I have found it.
Here is weight of all models listed in equipment lists at WC 2013 and EC 2014:
Notice not even half of the planes is under 4900 gram.
For example Christophe Paysant-Le Roux model Galactik has weight of 4900 gram, 4930 gram according to the lists in the PDF files below.

My Galactika has no stress marks around the landing gear. I have flown about 200 flights with my Galactika, many of them on rough grass field.
But I reinforced my landing gear mounting plate from the start with plywood on side of fuselage so maybe that is why I have no problem (so far) with stress marks.

It first appears like stress marks and then cracks.......not happy .I think OXAI need to improve on their design.
The fuselage side walls need to be strengthen all the way back to the wing bolts ...carbon fibre should probably do the trick...

Here it is:
First, my Galactika had no reinforcement whatsoever from factory for the plywood landing gear mounting plate (photo is taken from underside):
So since it is rather rough grass field on the flying field I fly mostly it was necessary to reinforce the landing gear plywood plate with these plywood pieces below. The larger plate is 1 millimeter plywood and the thicker plywood that actually support the original Oxai landing gear plate is 5 millimeter multilayer (10 layer) plywood:

I glued with Casco Strong Epoxy Professional (slow curing, cured fully after 24 hours in room temp) mixed with West System 403 Microfibres to make it thicker and not flow. I have used this epoxy since 1970th (named Araldite then) and is available in most shops here in my country so it is easy to find here:

However I do not think I have seen that customs in my country has set 0 % custom fee on anything airplane related shipped from outside EU into my country (in EU) unless it has been value under a specific limit.
I think our airplanes is considerad "toys" and at least in my country it is 4.7 % import fee based on invoice on such things (except under a specific value when it is no import fee on many goods including toys).
VAT one has to pay of course, based on the value on the invoice when importing (from in my case outside EU).
To not use true value on the invoice so the taxes and VAT is lower that way when importing is not good business model.
