Default Motor/prop/battery selection - Pattern Glider!

Hey guys! So, this is for a 'glider' but this is the community I wanted to ask, so I'm posting here. I hope you don't mind!

I'm assembling a composite aerobatic glider (Fox): 3M span, 1.5M length, 3.5kg max weight (all-up.) I'd say 15" prop looks right, 14-16" range. I'll be flying sequences with it, and if I'm going to power it I might as well put something that can pull it like a pattern plane.

Any suggestions for motor and voltage? Or maybe just power rating, and/or prop diameter and rpm?

I'm in Hawaii and there isn't much room to fly 2M pattern here, but I miss sequences so I figured I'd try this!

Thanks!

Have you tried running some numbers through eCalc?
https://www.ecalc.ch/

There is the free version that only with a for Hacker motors but you can easily translate a Hacker to a similar motor

Another totally different option would be mounting a Xicoy x45 micro turbine on the glider … should have no difficulty flying sequences with that !

The Jeemo glider is specifically designed for this and there are a few videos available showing it online

Thanks ltc I did start playing with a calc but was just hoping to find a good reference point to start from. I found the 62" Acuity and think I'll model my power system after that: 5s, ~500kv, 15x10 prop.

Another potential option would be to purchase a Varioprop from Christian at Ramomer.de

For this application you could perhaps consider a standard 2 blade Varioprop or even his folding 2 blade Varioprop
varioPROP

Easy to adjust the pitch to “tune” the motor power
(I ordered a 3 blade version for a winter 2m build and I’m waiting for DHL to deliver it)
