Excellent build thread J-P. I learn something new from every build you do.

Wingster, thanks for your remark, you are right referring to the Manual for ESC with F3A Governor V2.2

" This is a compact Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) with a small heatsink. It must not be hidden deep inside the fuselage. You need to ensure direct airflow to the heatsink. The best practice is to place the ESC just behind the air intake (2–5 cm), positioned perpendicularly to the airflow. With adequate cooling, this ESC can handle up to 120A. Without direct cooling, it may overheat and fail at just 50A."

I think that 2 to 5 cm is very conservative, and the most important is to have the ESC in a direct airflow, not installed on the sides of the fuselage.

I have been using the D3 since 2018 on different planes with ADVERRUN single drive or contra and a TMCR positioning the ESC at the same location, 12 cm behind the air intake, so in the direct airflow , angled at 45 degrees and had no issues even flying in temperatures of 35 °C

I asked Adam Debowski about mounting the 2 D3 ESCs needed for my TMCR set up. He sent a photo of one installation just like this. After almost 60 flights with the ESCs in the position shown, one blew up! However, Adam thought this was a most unusual outcome and thought the fault lay elsewhere. The replacement was mounted in the same position and never has overheated or caused any other problems.

OPTIONAL STRUTS

Still waiting to maiden the MUSCLE CLOUD as I’m recovering for an eye surgery one week ago.
I'm taking advantage of this mandatory calm period to complete the optional struts.
Looking to have them painted instead of covered.
Finished struts pictures by BJ courtesy.
