Guys,
I have been offered some amazing prices on any Scorpion motor and ESC. I am looking for a setup for a Comp-ARF Valiant.
Has anyone got any experience of these motors, especially in a 2x2 model?? Good points? bad points?
I'm listening!
Thanks
Mark

I'm interested in this too. I'm about to get a Scorpion 4035-250 and run it on 10S in my 110 size pattern ship. A lot of guys are using Scorpion motors in the Sebart Wind 110, though mostly the 4025 on 8S.
Their "About Us" page pretty much says that the motors (and company) is pretty much designed around electric pattern competition, and their reputation is to be lighter and more powerful than Hacker.

Scorpion has been saying for several months now they are coming out with a 'F3A' motor specifically designed for pattern and tested with the current popular APC type props. Still no announcement tho.

I've been looking at the Scorpion motors for a while and the numbers for the S5525-225Kv look very good: [link]http://www.innov8tivedesigns.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_85&products_id=550[/link]
It's a little lighter than the Axi 5330 but a lot more powerful (over 3000W).
I asked Lucien Miller from Innov8tive Designs about the new F3A motor. Here's his answer:
"Scorpion is just about done with the development phase of this motor. I got an Email from the owner of the Scorpion company a couple days ago, and he said that there is a good chance that I will have a prototype of this motor in time to show at the AMA convention in Ontario, California January 8th through the 10th.
This motor is going to be based on the 5030 size stator, and is currently planned to have a Kv value of 220. It is designed to run on a 10-cell Li-Po battery pack with props in the 19 to 21 inch range. The motor should come in just a hair under 600 grams, but this has not been confirmed yet. Max output power at 70 amps and 37 volts will be 2590 watts."

This is from the Sebart Wind 110 thread - some data taken with an e-logger and the Scorpion [link=http://www.scorpionsystem.com/catalog/motors/s40_kits/s-4035-250KV/]4035-250[/link] (we are limited by space in this aircraft to 40mm can, which is the primary reason for using this motor):
The Wind weighs probably around 9.5lbs with this setup. I don't remember what ESC he is using.
I just figured this might be an OK reference. I know it's not on a 2M ship but it seems like it might do the trick...
Full thorttle WOT about 2600watts , 65amp with Xoar 18x10wood-E prop
Fot the vertical up line max amp draw is 45amp and used 1700Watts
Fly p-09 for 9min and land 2200 to 2400mah used (i use 4900 mah Rhino5sx2packs)

I'm trying the Scorpion 5535-190 in my OTOP 2 meter ship. I'm installing a new carbon
fiber firewall for the motor mounting and should have it finished pretty quick. The 5535
motor is a little heavier than Lucien says the new F3A motor will be but the motor, new
firewall, and batteries are still lighter than the YS 1.60 DZ, Hyde ARI mount, and 20oz
Tettra fuel tank with fuel, and fittings they are replacing. The workmanship on the 5535-190
motor is superb, hope it performs as well as it looks.

The first motor in the world to have 100% efficiency.
Scary stuff.
