I recon with that setup you are only drawing 40A, for about 700W, the plane realy needs 1000W min. So ti get the draw on your motor you will need to prop at least a 17 to 19 dia prop. The with a deep pitch to get it going. The A50 16S is 380KV motor so you will need a bigger prop or more cells.

For 5s I would recon on a motor of 500 to 550KV should see it OK, I had an Hacker A50-12S and then a hyperion 4025-10 on it. both worked well and kept the amp draw up. Now use an 8S setup and the turnigy mentioned eailier, very please with the turnigy.

Cheers

My Angel (now deceased due to mid air) was set up with A50 16s, apc 16x10e and 6s Thunder Power 3850mA Lipo. With this I think it was drawing around 63A at full throttle. Power was more than adequate, full throttle was not required even for long uplines and it felt light in the air, I would say the perfect set up.

Hope that helps.

I have over 200 flights on my Angel 50, Hacker A50-16S, Hacker 70A ESC, APC 16x10, Rhino 6S 4900's - more than enough power (1300W).
It gets quite windy where I live and I believe the extra weight of the battery helps here.

Hey all,

i did a after maiden check on my baby last night. i found the nuts on the rudder arm had come loose, one of which was gone. hmmm my fault i didnt put thread locker on them. and i did take one of the other guys advice on the forum about securing and re inforcing the battery tray. i found it a little flimsy. but thats it. the only thinbg that i did that wasnt really necessary was reinforce the front canopy where it secures onto the fuz, i dont want it to snap or elongate. so i inforced it with epoxy and a little bit of carbon. But all Ok.

Hmm bigger speedy and bigger battery. ordered.

She is fantastic, very impressed, running the stock setup.

I just fly a smaller box and used 2400 mah per 8 min. flight . Moved the packs to about half an inch infront of wingtube and like it.General flying only 10 degrees up and down for ailerons, tucks a little to the belly in knife edge, snaps lovely easy spin entries.........she has lots of potential, with some finetuning she will bcome an Angel.

sounds like a good second home for my Hacker a50 16S, I don't like this Inspire it is in now and I'm looking for another small pattern plane.

Gerrie

In the instructions you will note that SebArt suggest 6% elevator up on full rudder both sides to compensate for the belly tuck, it was a perfect set up on mine.

Look here: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_6875170/tm.htm there are 609 posts and I don't think anyone of them is negative, obviously the chap who started this thread did not know how to use the search engine. LOL

hey guys,
even with the setup not perfect i did fly it again last night, got bored and really wanted to fly.............. hehe

Besides the lazy take off, Gerrie your right, She snaps well, knife edge with mine is great doesnt lose one bit of height. Spins with ease. and i have scared my wife with it because i spiralled it all the way down and then exited inverted and shed freaked thinkin it was going to crash. haha.

ok i gotta ask, Has anyone noticed how fast she has to be to land properly or is this just me. i find i have to bring her in a little quicker than my warbirds (Me109, Kittyhawk, Mustang). I found out the hard way bringing it in too slow, i had a very weak response to the elevator.

Does anyone have this problem? is this just her personality and characteristics??

Reflex both ailerons up about 5mm, this destroys some of the lift and adds washout to the tips of the wings, means you can slow her down more to land at a slower speed, also keep some throttle on just to keep the prop turning, this adds masses of drag as long as the prop is turning and producing less thrust than the forward speed.

I have the reflex on a take off/landing mode on my Tx which gives up aileron only at low throttle, slowed to go up, but instant down if the throttle is opened again, I don't use any elevator compensation, just fly it on the stick.

my Inspire has made me mad for the last time and I've decided to get one of these to fly in Sportsman, I have the Hacker A50 16S I can take off the Inspire and speed controller, does it take mini's in the ailerons or reg size servos and what is recommended for the pull pull rudder?
thanks

Standard servos all round. Go for servos with high resolution for best results, speed not too important. I am using HS5625MG in mine. I have a pal who uses hs225mg to good effect, but he had to put in some extra mounting plates for the servos.

are you having centering issues with the Hitecs? I have them in the Inspire and I'm not sure that isn't part of why that thing flys like sh**

No probles at all.

I had the inspire 60 with a YS63 and it flew like c**p. Wasn't a servo problem, just the plane.

I agree, I guess the Angel Evo is pretty honest and easy to trim? I flew that Inspire 30+ times and never thought I had it trimmed.

Now if I can just find one.

The SebArt Angel is the truest flying mini F3A machine you will find out there without going composite, standard digital servos are fine, I'm using the Spektrum DS821's in both of my Angels with no ill effects, the centering issues with the Hitec's I have never seen or had, what I have had is worn out JR's on more than one occasion, Hitec metal geared servo's do not wear out.

That is exactly what I need to fly right now and especially since I have the right motor and ESC for it.
thanks

You will not be dissapointed, I now have two, one electric and one IC which I converted myself, both fly as well as each other, the IC maybe a little better, but that may be because its the newest, only one mod needed and that is some kind of canopy retention other than the magnets, they are where not quite strong enough on my first one to withstand a full speed snap roll, other than that they fly perfectly true.

I put a canopy catch at the back of the cockpit in the centre, I have a photo somewhere, will find it tommorow and post it.

Its 2400hrs and I am off to my bed.
