RE: E-flight 160 for a Brio ??
LET US STEER AWAY FROM MOTORS, AND RETURN TO YGE AND ICE ESC's ... <span style="font-size: medium">YGE ESC's; and SunriseModel ICE ESC's, HobbyKing YEP ESC's, HiModel "FLY ICE" ESC's </span>(-and also the older HobbyKing "Dlux Helidrive" ESC's -which have now been discontinued...) <u><span style="font-size: medium">THE STORY:</span></u> see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11469073 -This takes us to an RCG thread: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1619738 Title: "... HeliDrive = Himodel = YGE ??!! ..." -started in March 2012</p> Just one thing to point out: For those who are not aware: The SunriseModel ICE ESC's FIRST apppeared on the HobbyKing site as"Dlux HeliDrive ESC's". These were all identical to SunriseModel ICE ESC's, and were made by them. They used the Sunrise ICE / YGE program card. -Then: Sometime later in 2012, theseESC'sre-appeared on the HK website, but were now called "YEP" ESC's (obviously they chose a name very similar to YGE ..! -to make us all connect these ESC's with YGE ...)</p> -However, the name "Dlux" has now been used by HK for a TOTALLY different range of ESC's -the "Turnigy dlux" Data Logging range of ESC's -and these are NOTHING to do with SunriseModel at all -These Turnigy dlux ESC''s are all made by the Sunray Technology factory; see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11452486 post #43 onwards. -Basically, "Turnigy dlux" ESC's are EXACTLY the same as Hacker X-Pro, E-F Airboss, Hyperion Titan ESC's -and others -but are 30% of the cost of Hacker and Airboss -AND they also do data logging just like a Jet SPIN ESC, where data stored by the ESC can be read by a program box after the flight.</p> ANYWAY, THE ABOVE RCG THREAD,GIVES SOME INFORMATION ABOUT THE YGE / SUNRISEMODEL ICE/ HK YEP ESC'S ... -Thought you might be interested ...</p> |

RE: E-flight 160 for a Brio ??
No worries from me about the the direction this thread went. I think I have decided
on a motor but now need to do the battery thing. Reading through the threads I see some of you are running 4600 mah and others stick with the 5000 mah. packs and 25C - 30C seems to be the correct range. The Zippy 5000 compact seem popular and honestly are more in my price range unless it is false economy. I read the tread on the Dinogy (sp) and they seem reasonable... What else should I be looking for? Thank you again for the help. |

I read the tread on the Dinogy (sp) and they seem reasonable... What else should I be looking for? Thank you again for the help. What class are you flying? I can get through the Advanced sequence with power to spare using 4400 packs. I'm running the 30C Dinogy 4400 packs this season. So far I like them a bunch. But it all comes down to throttle management. i have a friend who flies FAI and he uses 4400 packs most of the time. For the F sequence he sometimes uses a 40C 4400 or a 5000 pack. But in general the 4400 works fine for him. |

I would only be doing basic or the next up. I actually have never flown in a contest.

ORIGINAL: rgburrill After over 40 years in electronics one thing I have learned is the many, many times the "same, identical" parts are sold under different brand names for vastly different prices. YGE ESC's; and SunriseModel ICE ESC's, HobbyKing YEP ESC's, HiModel "FLY ICE" ESC's (-and also the older HobbyKing "Dlux Helidrive" ESC's -which have now been discontinued...) THE STORY: see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/fb.asp?m=11469073 -This takes us to RCG: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1619738 "... HeliDrive = Himodel = YGE ..." ON THE RCG THREAD: jjmouris states: "... It has been said that YGE ESC's are made in China, so this would be the Chinese finding another route to the market ..."</p> Then we have: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...p;postcount=76 Letter from Heino Jung, the owner of YGE -he seems to try and say that "... SunriseModel has stolen the YGE software and have used it with a changed hardware... " He then tries to state that "... YGE controllers are completely made in Germany and they test each one ..."</p> But then later in the thread, DownUnderPilot states: <span style="font-size: small">"... I have heard from a source who shall remain nameless that YGE controllers actually are not manufactured where they are claimed to be..."</span> -My interptretation of the YGE / SunriseModel situation -until someone proves otherwise -is that all YGE ESC's<span style="font-size: small"> ARE</span> , in fact, made at the SunriseModel factory in China. However,SunriseModel also decided to make some of these very same ESC's for themselves, using a slightly older version of the YGE software that they had from YGE, and then sell these ESC's as "SunriseModel ICE" ESC's -quite independently of YGE. -This type of business practise is very common in China. For instance you will find the same factories that make Fliton planes, or Parkzone / Horizon Hobby planes, selling the EXACT same planes themselves to other outlets, but with a different colour scheme and a different name ... -and the price is often 1/3 that of the "name brand" ...</p> Going back to ICE ESC's; Then: HobbyKing buy the ICE ESC's from SunriseModel, and re-brands them as "YEP" ESC's. HiModel also get them, and re-brand them as "HiModel FLY ICE ESC's". <span style="font-size: small">-And the end result is that we have both HobbyKing and HiModel selling ESC's which are completely <span style="font-size: medium">IDENTICAL</span>to YGE ESC's, for 1/3 or less than the price ofthe same YGE ESC ... </span><span style="font-size: medium"> Its a Jungle out there... </span></p> |

The moderators should track his IP address, it will probably be in China, as that page he talks over and over is a hoax, the manufacturer I mean.

RE: E-flight 160 for a Brio ??
I have strong evidence he isn't in China but near Bristol, UK. Seems the Doctor has a long track record on the other forums of this same behavior. He has Multiple bans from RCG.
</p> And, to clarify a point I was challenged on in a rude PM from DrMotor, what I mean by "nukes" is thorough documentation of your failed business, AllFlight and your practices, as well as other information I do not intend (at least at this point) to post on a public forum out a basic human decency. And, I have started informing vendors, like Chris Hinson of Extreme Flight abouthis claims he is "Just a rebrander". I will be in touch with Horizon Hobby Monday morning. I'm sure they will be very interested in what is being posted about their products and pricing policies.</p> Rob</p> |
RE: E-flight 160 for a Brio ??
Yeap, with you on his approach, he has been systematically insisting on the same message over and over again, and when I went to check out this "Sunray" website just for curiosity, it revealed a web which is not in accordance to a company which produce all he says, it in my opinion harmful to those who are new to certain aspects of the hobby.

The <span style="font-size: small">ONLY</span> reason Sunray have nothing on their website, is because they are a huge OEM company, they do not sell directly to the public, and only supply re-sellers like Hacker, Extreme Flight, Hyperion, Shulman Aviation FURY, Gens Ace and all the other 30 or 50 re-sellers etc etc etc -You have obviously read nothing, apereira, and are speaking from a position of substantial ignorance. see: http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11426913/tm.htm and http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_11215832/tm.htm I suggest you get some information, before making any further comments. <span style="font-size: small">I am afraid your comment just has to be competely and totally ignored. </span> |

<span style="font-size: small">The fact that the Sunray Technology factory makes both ESC's and brushless motors for all these companies, has actually been confirmed by Extreme Flight themselves,

DrMotor, or whatever your name is as you HIDE behind a silly nickname, you have to understand, this is not a religious forums where you are obligated to convert people to your believes, for example, I buy mostly Hacker, because I WANT, I own several other motor brands including Turnigy, probably have over 30 electric motors of different brands and I do not care to compare between all the pages on the internet, and if a guy ask about a Eflite motor, why do you have to make him go a different way?? you have NO respect for peoples preferences and choices , that is what bother most people I think specially me.

Kregan:
I have an E-Flite 160 om my Blackmagic V2.2. It was an YS conversion to electric. So far, I have no regrets on the conversion and am completely satisfied with the 160. I am usin a CC HV110, 20x10 prop more than sufficient powr. Verticals are long and consistant. I was using a 20x13 prop, but plane was much too fast and difficult to throttle manage. I'll have to try it again and see if I can get use to it. I would however, in your case consider a CC HV 120 or the ice 120. when you go to the larger props, you'll be pulling more amps, perhaps pushing the limits of the ESC. My $.02 worth. Orlando |
