Can you guys post some of the flight times you're getting with your packs?

Also I found the Wind "Pro" on Seb's site - $1499eu ($2100usd) for the painted version (price is in PDF near the October release date) and $1200eu for the white/red version.

Flying times also depend on your throttle management.

I usually fly around 7~8 minutes and then charge about 2300~2500 mAh

I am planning on using 5000mAh batteries as well. You mentioned in an earlier post that you needed to have the main battery quite far back to get it to get the CG right.
Did you have the battery hard up against the wing tube or further forward?

Directly against the wingtube. Also I built in the receiver on exactly the place you see on the photo's in the manual, so behind the canopy. Lastly both my receiver battery (Kokam 1000mAh 2s 25C) and voltage regulator are also placed here.

I should mention that I use light servo's, I have Futaba 9650 (29 gram) all around, exept for rudder. I built the servo's into the horizontal stabilizor. If you use heavier servo's for elevator, you might not need to place everything so far back.

Also CG is a peronal manner, I have found that I like to fly with a reasonably aft CG, so I don't have it at the recommended 18cm. On really windy days I'll bring my battery like 1 cm more forward to compensete and get better tracking.

I finally found something to b*tch about on the Wind 110.
The covering absolutely sucks. It looks good, but every time I fly it the covering
loosens and wrinkles so much I have to reshrink it with my monokote iron. This
happens everytime I fly when the sun is out. Great airplane but crappy covering.

This is simply not True. The WindS is covered with Oracover, which is one of the best coverings money can buy.

The only thing you have to do, is iron it once with a sufficient temperature to let it shrink.

I sometimes fly after work and then the WindS is sitting in the car all day while I work. Our parking has no shade and temperatures can rise above 50 degrees celcius in the car and it's sitting in direct sunlight. The first time I did that, it wrinkled. I ironed it once, and have had no problems since then.

Really, if it wrinkles in your situation, then any other brand would have wrinkled more.. Oracover is top-noth covering..

Well here in south Texas the summertime temperatures are always above 100 deg.
For the last few weeks 105 to 110 deg and everytime I fly I have to reshrink the covering.
I also have a Hyperion Helios 90 pattern ship and the covering, whatever it is, does not
wrinkle.

To clarify, I was talking about degrees celcius. 50 degrees celcius is about 122 degrees farenheit.

If you have to re-iron constantly, then you're not ironing it at a high enough temperature.

Just want to ask something. The Wind 110 is meant for 8S with the A50-16L and a perhaps 18x10 prop. I am going to go with 10S and the same motor will turn a 16x8 or even a 16x10 but at higher RPMs. What difference would a 16" make to the flying characteristic of the plane compared with an 18" prop? I would guess the downlines on the 18" be slower. Anything else? Hope you guys can assist me.

You'll have less braking capacity.. and you'll probably need more speed to climb.

This is somewhat hard to explain, but roughly you could say pitch translates to speed and size to thrust. With a smaller prop you'll have less thrust, so you'll have to give more throttle to climb, which, in combination with the pitch, makes you'll climb faster.

I wouldn't fly this setup on 10s, but either choose an engine that has a lower RPM/V for 10S, or buy 8S packs.

Hezik ... yeah ... smaller prop that wants more thrust needs more RPM, that translates into more speed. Shall search for a 10S motor that will turn an 18x10 or so. The Hyperion 5025 motor seems to be an option. Thanks!

tIANci, why not try a 18 x 8 - should be about the same pitch speed on 10S as the 18 x 10 is on 8S
I have a Wind 110 - standard Hacker Motor, 18 x 10, 8S. 10 flights so far & flies much better than my Angel 50.

Interesting suggestion ... most interesting. Perhaps since the 4S 4,000 mAh packs in HC is cheap I might as well go get some. Only issue is, if the plane goes to that Happy Flying Field in the sky, then what do I do? Get another Wind 110!!!! hehehehee ... thanks again ... will punch in some numbers into MotorCalc.

I'm flying with HC Zippy 5000mAh 25C packs and they rock, expecially if you take the price into the consideration.

25C means 125A continous current, while the standard WindS setup (Masterbasic 90/A50-16L) never pulls more than 70 amps with an APC-E 18x10. I usually fly about 8 minutes and then charge 2500~3000mAh, so plenty of reserve. The 5000mAh is nice to get the CG correct.

Only abuse I do do on them, is charge them with 7A instead of 5A. Both packs are at about 90 cycles now and there's no noticable wear yet. I expect to get at least 150~200 cycles out of them.

I am pretty happy with my Rhino 20C 5S 4,900 packs ... they are holding up well.

And hurry.. above all else, all the discussion, engine types, covering, and so on.. this is just a truly beautifull plane to see and it flies as good as it looks. You will not regret the money you spend on it.

Fedon seems to be a place where you can view the Wind 110 on line, but he doesn't ever seem to have one to actually sell you one. they are always coming in a couple of weeks.

Your correct , they don't have and wouldn't for 60 days according to the guy at Fedon. As much as I would like one I am not putting down a deposit only to hear it will end Up here by December or something. Why advertise something you cant buy in weeks? This not a custom $2000 arf.

They lost me as a potential buyer of any of there products.
