RE: CA Models VISA

That's pretty much it. The split rudder comes in play for rolling and most of the maneuvers. It does increase the side area of the fuse. The best way I can describe it is that it does what electronic rudder expo is supposed to do. It really smooths out the rudder for maneuvers which require very little rudder input. Expo just doesn't act the same way. For spins, snaps, rolling loops and stall turns I use the rudders acting together like a standard rudder, I don't use split rudder for those maneuvers. The rudder has more authority that way.

The split rudder is great, but unless you are flying in FAI or Masters it really isn't worth the hassle to set it up and program it into your radio. You need to be comfortable flipping switches to activate and deactivate the split rudder. For some of the F11 and P11 maneuvers I will switch it on and off during the maneuver depending on which flight condition is active. The Visa and Passport can both be had with or without split rudder. They fly great both ways.

Thanks again for the info. I would probably not use it at first but could grow into it if I have it. I'm also the kind of guy that would fly the heck out what I have for a long time so I don't really see it as a short term thing. I'm not sure what the wait period would be for a Visa these days plus the time it takes to complete at home. Would anyone here be selling last years plane? I could use it as a backup and take to my first contest while the Visa is being done.

I am a believer in the benefit of the split rudder now that I have a few flights on my new Passport 2010. It is amazing how level the plane stays in knife edge. Should have my Visa in the air in the next couple weeks. I look forward to getting a comparison of the two planes.

I know this isn't the forum for buying and selling, but depending on what you are looking for, I am selling the Integral that I flew in the F3A finals last year. Best bet if interested is to contact me off-list at [email protected]

Wish I had Todd putting my stuff together! I went the ARC route thinking to save $$. Well I really took for granted how much the CAModel guys do in a ARF!
Well worth the extra coin! Will go that route on the next one... Solid White at least!

Jim, I bet YOU could do it! :D (will do it?) :D

Very nice Cameron!!!!!!!!!!! I hope it is what you expected and then some. As far as the shoehorning of a YS in the nose, the .63 will fit nicely but you better keep it lite. lol

Here is a pic of the new Visa I came back to find waiting for me. I was planning on flying the Envision next week at the Nationals but I guess Marcelo likes it so much he wants it to himself. The first two Envisions are at the paint shop. Hoe to have some pics monday,

Hello everybody!
I´m from Argentina (second Chip´s country) and owner of a list of CA models airplanes since my first Epsilon followed by Genesis, Passport and now Visa.
I finished the airplane one week ago, and have to say it´s the very best airplane I´ve ever flight. From the bench work to the field I did exactly nothing to tune the plane. It´s perfect! No need of mix to correct command coupling, nothing at all!
Despite the excellent flight characteristics of the plane I´ve also to thanks Marcelo and Chip for their support, advices and help that allows me to win today the Intemediate class in my country.
For sure tomorrow Chip and Marcelo will beat everybody with the Visa and Envision on the FAI class.
Gustavo

Maidened the Visa today. All I can say is that it is awesome. I have 2% mix on rudder - elevator, and that is pretty much it. I may be able to get rid of that mix by playing with the CG. I got 5 flights on it today and I am really looking forward to the long weekend and trying to get the Visa fine tuned. It is more a matter of getting me fine tuned and in synch with the plane (snap roll timing, etc). The plane really locked on from the beginning. Now I am anxious to get my second Visa completed and in the air. I think that these two Visas plus the Pass-port 2010 will give me a great stable of planes. Thanks to Chip, Marcelo and everyone at CA Models for all their help. A thank you also goes out to Todd Blose for answering numerous questions during the build.

Here are some pics from today's flying.....

Mike,

Your Visa looks awesome, although every picture of that plane so far has been stunning. Great lines and even cooler paint jobs. See you at the NATS,

Arch

Thanks Arch.....looks are one thing, but if you haven't flown one yet, get your hands on one.....incredible! I am up early and in the shop working on getting the second one ready. I have 21 flights on the first Visa and it feels like I have hundreds on it. Chip and Marcelo did a really good job on this one. It is a lot of fun to fly.

WOW is all I can say. Today has been one of the best days of flying I have ever had, without flying lol. We were stuck at the factories all day finishing a few planes but the reports that were coming in from across the US were more then enough inspiration to keep going.

Jason is out in 100 degree temps and 95% humidity fine tuning his Envision, while Mike K has been having a blast with his Visa in Muncie. Then all he way out west to Whittier Ca where I know Tony is flying the Onas as well as Matt Kimbro, Leon, Bob, and the Steve's have their Visa\Passports hooked up. Here are a few pics of the planes we are getting finished for the Nats.

Good luck to you guys as well as everyone else, I wish I was there.

More later it´s Fajita Night down here and I am starving

Did Matt get his going? I came home from China with a nasty sinus infection and am grounded here at home this weekend. I had to miss Whittier, damn...
