Small hummingbird throttle problem

Hey guys, I finally got my HB dialed in and have flown it twenty or thirty times, I have noticed though that there is a one click difference from it rising slowly to it settling down into the ground effects about 12" off the floor. How can I fix this so it will hold an altitude somewhere higher that 1ft?

If you have a computer radio , you could adjust your throws in that range. If you don't, then try a smaller or larger pinion gear.

Your going to have a little problem trying to fix that. Fixed pitch helis either wont to go up or drop down, that's just the way they are. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying it's not easy to do for a beginner.

My D/F clone has that same problem. From what I've read, others seeing same thing. There's One-way main gear that will allow for smoother flying/hovering, and less tail yaw when the throttle is varied. I'm thinking of getting this one-way gear but it costs $49.99 though.

the oneway gear wont help with this problem. the oneway will pretty much just smooth out the tail= less torque effects.
the best way to smooth out ur throttle is to open up ur tx and flip around the piece of metal that causes the clicks. thats what people to for perfect hummer hovering. takes a lil bit to get used to, but once you do you can hold altitude fine.

Thanks for clarifying 1-way gear function.
I did smooth out throttle 'tension bar' but cannot cure this problem. One tiny throttle adjustment will take my bird from 1 feet to ... the ceiling. I think my problem is related to Johnson motor (for only $0.50, can't complaint!).

One way I can think of this problem is that the main motor (Johnson in this case?) is not linear in power/rpm.

Yeah, I'm flying it on the Flash5x, I'm gonna run the epa up to 125 and add expo as well, dint want to flip the throttle clicks as I like them for my planes. Thank for the help guys, I'll let you know what happens.

There is no expo on 3 with the Flash 5x. After several flights I have come to the conclusion that playing with the EPA although helpful at some settings does not cure the problem altogether. I also played with the AoA of the paddles slightly to see if I could get a little more or less lift. This also helped, but once again not enough to hold it rock steady. I think the general problem is that as the batteries drain there is a continual change in lift. During the length of the battery there are times when it holds pretty still, and others when I have to juggle the throttle constantly. I'm sure it would make me a better flyer in the long run to play with the throttle, but I'm flipping the plate.
Of course now my real problem is my Tx's crap Nicads won't hold a charge longer than an hour. Time for some Lipos in there!

Ok so it's not really a plate on the Flash5x, there's a metal clip that presses against the ridged plastic on the backside of the throttle. I just bent it slightly away. It is a little quirky to get the hang of, but I can get the HB a lot more steady in the vertical axis now. I'm not to the point of doing pirouettes so I'm letting my thumb sit on the moving part of the throttle, not the stick, so that I can keep a sense of stability.
