I am new to RC Helicopters. Looking at buying my first one. Thinking about an electric micro version. I am considering the FEDA model by RC World for $199. Does anyone have any experience with this heli or is there something better for the price.
Thanks

Hi,
I do not have experience with that model, but I do wnat to ask you some questions that may help us make recommendations.
Do you have room to fly indoors? A basement, garage, or good sized living room is OK for Fixed Pitch micros.
Do you need to fly outdoors? The unlimited room is nice, but most micros cannot handle much wind at all.
What is your budget like? Almost all of the kits will fly out of the box, with proper setup (something you will have to learn with ANy heli) But most of the kits will also benefit form LiPo batteries and other upgrades.
Do you have RC Experience or equipment? If you already have a transmitter, we might be able to save you from buying another one.

I have no RC experience or equipment. I would like to be able to fly outdoors. I probably don't want to spend over $500 for my first heli. Not sure of electric versus gas. I do recall in the old days using gas was finiky.

The Feda, like the Hummingbird and Piccolo models I would have recommended, is not a good choice if outdoor is going to be your primary flight venue.
There are things you can change/upgrade that will make these small fixed pitch micros handle better in mild wind (cut blades for higher head speed, add bigger batteries for more weight for higher head speed, head stiffeners) but they are not really outdoor models. They get blown around a lot by mild wind.
You may be looking for something bigger.

I got a HB Elite with 2 LiPo's off Ebay from RCExpert for under $300 - that included shipping and everything needed to fly. They are sending me a replacement tail blade that was busted on arrival. So the service is fine. I've had to do a little tweaking to make it easier to fly. I have no RC experience whatsoever so it is a challenge.
One thing I would do though is stock up on replacement blades and whatever looks like it might break. That way when you crash you can just repair and keep flying.
I am waiting for ball-link pliers so that I can fix mine.
I wish there was more info on the net for tuning the hummingbird... The EHBG doc doesnt have anything for the HB.
Wish I could tell you about flying in wind but I am just slowly getting off the ground these days.

I just got a Shogun 400 Electric and it does very well outside. It handled the wind nicely and was suprisingly stable. I think you can get a brushless setup for right at $500 without a transmitter.
