Not yet, I didnt have a screw driver small enough to tighten the two screws on the blade holder I was disappointed. I need to go out and by myself a new jewlers screwdriver kit, with any luck I will be able to work on it tonight

Yeah...it takes a tiny one for sure. Don't want to strip out the heads. If you do...just glue!...lol.

Same....mine kinda lost some oomph so Megatech is sending me a free-bee. They have been great as far as support.

Wow, thats so cool ! I was thinking about contacting them for support before, but I bought my Heli on Ebay, not sure they would even offer me any support. When I bought my Heli on ebay the guy said "New, Mint condition" but obviously it wasnt. He must have had some bad blade strikes, gave up on it, and sold it. Oh well, I hope I can fix this thing up and fly it.

That's what they are there for. Doesn't matter where you bought it from. It has a 90 day warranty. Can't hurt to ask. All they can do is say no. They will still give support.

How much did you pay for it?

I paid 197 for it, plus the shipping. I thought it was a great deal...but then looking around the internet even more I found the same Heli (but isnt called a HouseFly) for $149 on hobbyjapan2000.com website ! I almost was going to resell this Heli on ebay and buy the 149 one, but Im going to try and put the work into it and get it flying.

The dragonfly 5 and x-effect are the one's that's identical. Parts are cheap from Grand Hobby on eBay. The parts are interchangeable. Keep at it. It will fly, and fly very well.

Thanks for the support and the encouragement ! Hey by chance, do you know of any simulator software that would include a sim for a Heli similar to the Housefly with the dual main rotor ? Would be cool to practice this Heli on a sim.

You are welcome! I know that the dragonfly 5 comes with a sim cable. Grand Hobby on eBay might sell them. I've thought of that myself.

Yea Ive seen the cable for the Remote, but it would be kinda useless if there wasnt a sim program that had a heli in it like the housefly.

Small screwdriver sets are invaluable with these birds. Walmart $1.97. The smallest flat head works well on the blade holder screws.

Also, the Dragonfly 5 and the Hobby Source X-Effect do seem to be exactly the same as the Megatech. Housefly can be had for 189 shipped from wholesaletrains. The others are available for about 20-40 cheaper. So you might spend a bit more to get the Megatech company name and the support that goes with it.

BTW - I glued my lower blade hub assembly to the slotted portion of the main shaft but didn't do it towards the top but rather towards the bottom. Didn't seem to have any negative effect. Humvee- do you know and can you explain what the difference is mechanically - in placing the blades a little higher or lower on this slotted portion and how either will or should effect flight?

Hello again LT. On mine it seem to bind a little and caused it to spin if it was to low. It would spin if it was to high. Not sure if this is a norm but it did seem to make a difference in performance on mine.

Kasowitz, I got my stanley screw driver for a $1 at Odd Lots. It has the perfect size philups. Got lucky I guess...lol.

If the lower hub is too low at the slotted portion, the lower blades won't get enough angle of attack (pitch) to generate proper lift for takeoff when a little " tuning fork "(link) tries to change the pitch of the lower blades. On the other hand, if the lower hub is too high, it makes blade tracking difficult, the blades won't align perfectly.

tightening the blade holder screws and some super glue helped a lot....the blade stayed on for awhile this time, i got about 15 take off attempts with it before it flew off with the pin this time. So Im super glueing it even more this time and tightening screws again. i am having a problem with the heli trying to tip over. still working on adjusting it.

got the thing up in the air this time, about 3 feet in the air, almost a hover....was about to try some maneuvering but then it started to shake a little bit so i let the throttle down and landed it pretty soft. this thing is awesome ! On my last flight I knocked the blade into a box, breaking the blade holder "nipple" piece...so now I am using a lot of glue...hopefully i can get this thing to hold now !

Glued it back into place and went flying again....this time, the whole top blade assembly flew off with the whole rod coming up and out !!! And the gear at the bottom of the helicopter flying off !!! Any tips to putting this mess back together ? Im pretty sure I know how this goes back together, but is it ever going to hold again !?! thats what im really wondering about Here are two pics, let me know if you guys want to see anything else.
