Default Second helicopter advice!

Hey folks,

About a week ago i bought LAMA 2 V3, since then i've got it airborne and can hover tail in and almost nose in, and can land on a DVD case.

So far i've become highly addicted and need more, i am really wanting to buy a collective pitch helicopter to learn something more advanced, as, to be honest the LAMA, allthough a challenge in itself, didnt seem to be the challenge i was expecting. I understand a single rotor CP heli will be a FAR bigger challenge, and will take some real time and effort.

Now this is where i need some advice, I bought the LAMA over the internet, but after a trip to the local hobby shop i learnt they only stock 1 helicopter that i think suits my needs (£200 or thereabouts for a ready to fly deal), this is the Twister CP v2. They also stock spares/ will order spares in for me when i need them and have offered full support and any help/advice i need.

However, i have also been looking at a Honeybee CP2, i would have to get this over the internet and therefore would also have to buy spares over the internet, and i am not sure i want to end up with a heli that i have to order things for when i crash. I like to be able to go somewhere and get the parts whenever i can, and as i will no doubt crash numerous times i think i would be wise to go for something i can source parts for locally.

What are your views on having to order parts over the internet?

Thanks for reading and taking the time to help.

weigh out the pros and cons of the "parts situation" if your hobby shop stock parts for the heli they carry it might be worth it to buy that one....

I've heard great things about both of the helis you mentioned....I guess its up to you

I forgot.....I prefer ordering parts online simply because I don't have to waste time, pay for fuel to get them, and pay tax

Yup, most hobby places in the US dont carry the China and Japan stuff. Usually its all online. Just like he said, gas and taxes. Just have it delivered to your door.

www.ushobbysupply.com is having a 2 for 1 deal and he also throws in a free pair of main blades. And the shipping is super fast. He carries parts for the Walkera Dragonfly #4 tho. I have 3 #4's and I love them, fly great, cheap parts and pretty durable.

You can pick up a good deal on ebay.

sorry, but, WHAT THE HECK DO YOU DO WITH 3 #4s???? I guess fly em but...

Well, if you go CP the blade CP is a good choice, it's challenging, and less stable then a TRex, (similar to a #4 if I remember correctly) but flies great and is decently simple, as well as cheap as heck to replace parts on! (besides the fact that most hobby stores carry them)

When some family comes over I use 1 as a trainer so they can learn on, another one as a kool forward flight just messing around heli, and

the other another one to fly both helis at the same time,

Me and my couzin were playing jump frog with them, lol, Id go up into the air and get above him while hes in the air which messes his heli

up, lol its just a load of fun. Also im going to turn one of my helis into a advertising heli, its going to fly a big banner around our store. its

gonna be kool.

Possibly should have mentioned 2 things:

1: I live in the uk, therefore ordering from the states doesnt seem my best option.

2: The local hobby shop that stocks the Twister is within walking distance, so getting there is no problem...

Im almost tempted though, to go for a honeybee just because its a little cheaper...

If you have a good hobby shop near you that stocks a decent heli and parts I say get it. I bought online and now have to wait for parts. I live in South Florida just south of Miami and we have the worst hobby shops down here. I have been to all with in a 30 mile radius and the prices are 2-3 times what I would pay online. I also went the walkera 36 route and NOBODY stocks those parts. I can't even find anything that will work with a minor mod. I need to move. It sounds like people are much more willing to help someone out over there.....[]
