Default AeroNaut Panther - Battery Help

I am building the AeroNaut F9F Panther. Plan on using a MegaMotor 20/30/2 and a Scheubler 90 mm fan (I had these from a previous project). Wondering what battery setup/size would be a good match. Also, is it preferable to use the 'Ultimate BEC', or, no BEC with a seperate reciever battery pack ? Thanks. Bob

A 5s pack of around 5000mah and a rx pack is what I would use. Enjoy the F9F, it's a wonderful jet to fly.......

Thanks Gregg, I was looking at the Flight Power EVO's. They have a 4S2P 5000mah that weighs 19 oz. and a 5S2P 5000 mah that weighs 24 oz. Would either of these make good choices ? Is 5S needed or is 4S enough ? Thanks. Bob

5S is ideal and will yield around 1000w @ around 55a.

I haven't seen anyone try 4 cells............

Thanks Gregg, Also, do most people bungee launch their Panthers ? I recall seeing a post and video where people were just taking off from the ground .... on asphalt and grass. Thanks. Bob

PS: Wow, those 5S2P packs are expensive.

I noticed that EVO makes a 5S 3700 mah pack. Is this large enough .... or is the 5000 mah pack a better choice ?

A 5ah pack will give you 8+min. The 3700 will be good for about 5min.............

Either one will work.
