Hi Everyone,
I am putting together the Executive Jet at the moment.
Without starting a debate! (I have read every forum I could find on this topic), what is the best option regarding the BEC's.
1. Is it ok to have them both providing power to the receiver, or should I remove one of the red wires from one of the ESC connectors?
2. What gauge wire should I use between the ESC and the Batteries (I will connect them in Parrallel so I only have 2 wires from the ESC to Batteries). I.e I will make a harness so I can connect two deans connectors to the two wires, then at the other end, create another harness that the two ESC's can plug into completing the parrallel setup. See Pic. Deans connectors.
The ESC's will be located at the rear of the aircraft between the engines (near the cooling exit), and the batteries up the front (around 10" away) at the battery hatch.
The setup is:
ESC: 2 x Mystery 30A
Motor: 2 x Mystery 4000 Kv
Batt: 2 x Force 11.1V 3S 2200mah 20C
Some photos attached - I am painting it like a lear I used to fly.
Thankyou!

Because you will want to charge the batteries separately, you may want to consider just wiring the ESC power leads to one Dean's male connector, put a Dean's female on each of the batteries, and construct a parallel wiring harness to connect the batteries togther (two male connectors) running to a single female connector. I believe using a Wye servo lead for the two ESCs would be fine. It's how I've wired my upgraded SU-27 and followed the directions that extremeRC.com provided.

I am puttin the same jet together right now and I will send you the diagram, you should have the same one. It is very simple wire set up. The one y servo wire goes to the RX and the two ESC and then the other y wire goes to the servos for the flaps. I hope this helps.

hi tasesq
i wanted to ask you if you eventually found some minwax polycrylic that you were chasing in Australia in this forum:
http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_65...tm.htm#6577080
i am after some minwax polycrylic myself and arent having any luck sourcing some in Oz
I plan on using it to fuel proof a GWS Formosa for nitro conversion
any help would be greatly appreciated
cheers

Hi Mullyman,
No luck actually - I ended up going down the path of filling the weave using RedDevil Lightweight spackle (this is a waterbased product used for filling cracks in plaster). A huge tub of it weighs nothing. I mixed it in a small bucket with water so it was like paint, then brushed it on - then sanded.
I will prime next with Acrylic Lacquer High Build primer from SuperCheap (I think it is pentone brand - something like that). I have not gotten around to it yet as it is cold here now, and the investment in a compressor is a larger one that i thought.
(and i've got my new lear to play with!)
If anyone is interested here is the setup video from last night: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1FRO4JnO9Uk
How is the temp in Renmark? I was refuelling there once and it was 40C!!!!

Minwax is a polyurethane paint exactly the same as all the wattyl, cabbots etc we have available in Australia. You can use Cabbots crystal clear satin polyurethane, water based and identical to minwax.
BEANER: The website that showed you how to build your SU27 was not extremeRC.com. It is www.extremerc.com.au and is my website!
Tasesq: sounds like you bought the gear from eflypower, the ESC's are pretty cheap, I would not be using them in parallel BEC wise, in fact I would not be using the BEC in them at all! I would fit an external UBEC, a good one that is fully shielded, that plane needs good power supply for the radio gear.

Hey Extreme,
Actually, I got it all from ebay. Been flying a GWS tigermoth on cheap GWS ESC's and they seemed ok - so I just figured that the cheap chinese ones were probably the same ones as the brand name ones in the LHS anyway!!!
Speaking of which, I am in Maidstone - and i'm having great trouble finding a decent LHS in this general area? Got any suggestions?

Hey Extreme,
On another topic - do you stock the GWS Tigermoth 400 power systems?
I dumbthumed mine into the merv hughes oval and broke the motor mount assembly (sheared the motor from where it screws in and flattened a number of teeth on the reduction gear). Tried emailing GWS in Taipei but got no response. she's grounded otherwise as i don't think this is the sort of item i should epoxy!

try here for a new GB:
http://www.aircraft-world.com/shopdi...rboxes+%2D+400
postage is cheap and you can pay with Paypal- US$
i was wondering if the minwax stuff is half poly acrylic and half polyurethane?
that way you get the best of both worlds
crikeys - i just asked the misus what the highest temp in Renmark has been and she reckons 52C
it regularly gets to 50C in my shed - my poor planes get baked
its pretty cold at the moment tho

It certainly didn't make us feel any better when the fueller told us that! (and of course it was blowing one hell of a westerly, with dust everywhere!)

Hey Mullyman,
Thanks for that link - ordered two for 10USD including postage. Certainly better than having the moth grounded!
Cheers.

Hey guys! while on the topic. I have an A-10 and I ran the motors today for the first time. moments later one of the motors stoped and a continouse beeping started 123 over and over. What does this mean. I have a Y connector linked to the Rx and one of the RED wires is cut from one of the ESCs I cant seem to get the other motor going again and it just keeps on beeping.
Please help
