Default Phase 3 Squall

Hi Guys.

I was going through HobbyPeople website and found this Phase 3 Squall 3S version just for $79, I recently purchased Phase 3 EF-16 which i like, just getting used to it.

My question to you guys is, is this Phase 3 Squall 3S version anything like EF-16? same ? better ? or waste of money?

Is it difficult to fly?

Please advise.

Thanks

to zsultan, we have a guy at our local ama park who really likes the squall. he says it handles as good or better than the ef16.one thing about the edf system is that it can suck in debris when landing,he always flairs his squall when landing and keeps it in the grass. it is a good looking jet and is very stable when he glides it when cooling down between full throttle thrillers, this guy can really fly! (ex pylon racer) I have two years experience and he told me to go ahead and get one because the three cell version would be a good choice for me at this time. I have an f 27c stryker and to go edf he said I could not go wrong with the squall especially at the sale price of around 80 bucks for a plug and play version. Many happy flights to all.

Hi zsultan,
I have both jets, and I tell you the Squall wins hands down. I also could not resist the 3s Squall for 80 bucks. I don`t even use the recommended 2500 mah lipos, because all I own is 35c 2200 lipos. This keeps the plane nice and lite, good vertical and speed. I set my timer for 3.5 minutes and land after mostly full trottle flying with plenty of safe battery mah left. I set my CG at 50mm behide were the wing and fuse meet. I grab the fuse near the tailpipe and give it a good throw and it climbs out at 30 degrees. The plane has no bad habits, but use some expo because the ailirons can be sensitve. I also started with about 2mm up elevator because it is a delta wing plane. Take your time building the plane nice and straight and you will be very happy with it . It is a real honest no nosense airplane.
Good Luck,
Frank

Thanks guys,

What servos are you guys using on the Squall? I am planning on getting hobbycity cheap servos, which are equivlent to HS 55s.

Please advise.

Thanks

I have the squall (4S version) and its a total blast. Using HTX 900 ($2.99) from hobby king with turnigy 2650 MAH 30C lipo. 100+ flights with no problem. Best 200 bucks ever spent.

I have the vectory option on mine. Doing harrier landing with no problem.

Set a timer for 3 minutes then land and go home and check your mahs in your batterys. Then you can increase your times form there. I usually do not discharge my lipos below 3.4v per cell. As far as the servos, I use the hs 55 in mine so yours will be fine.

If you keep it lite, I`m guessing 75mph but that`s just a wild guess.

Guys,

One more question, if you are using Spektrum rx, which one do you recommend? AR500 or AR6100/6110?

Thanks

I just picked up a Squall cuz of the price and i will be going with the full range 500. Just seems smarter to use a full range

I have the four cell vector version and agree with the other guys on this string that love this plane. I bought a second one just to have it in the box in case I need it. Mine comes out of a dive at about 95 mph. The guys clocked my 3S Projeti at 114 to give you a comparison. I use the Cirrus servos which are identical to the $3 HK servos. I paid $9... so the decals on them must have been very expensive. I have had some trouble slowing down for landings, but need to practice more. The battery has ejected more than once on some too fast landings when the scoop hit the grass. One of the guys put two CF thin rods from the nose cone to the bottom of the scoop. Works great, looks OK. I may have to go that route if I keep jamming into the runway. Check out the video on Hobby People if you can.

Get the Squall, but get the 4S Vector if you can swing it.

I have had both the 4 and 3s Version - I'm flying a 4S with TV now - I think I preferred the 3S - it seemed to fly lighter. Still - it is better than the EF-16 to launch by leaps and bounds. It practically leaps out of your hand where as the EF-16 has to be thrown hard.
