THawk all the way man. I just got mine a couple weeks ago, and its awsome! Im new to rc flight, and taught myself to fly with it. I can do loops already and land really good with the landing gear on. Its really easy to do ROG takeoffs or a little harder to do hand launches. I can fly it in 10 mph winds easily to, like today. I even received a warped rudder, and emailed them, and got a new one for free shipped really fast! Its very strong to. I crashed into trees alot, and hit curbs and even hit a pole at 20 feet high and smashed into the pavement. ALl it suffered was some dents and crease marks in the wing. I just added some packing tape to the bottom of the wing for support and off i went. I got a differnt radio system with it, the Hitec flash 4 with feather receiver, but I know someone who got it stock and its fine. Good luck on your new plane, which ever one you choose

I think a lot of it is going to depend on how much room you have to fly in. The T-Hawk is gonna take a larger amount of space, mainly because of it's speed. The Slow-V, on the other hand can fly in a much smaller area.........

For a first plane my choice is the SlowV. Just fly it in lighter winds and since it will fly slower you can learn how the controls work without fear of crashing right away.

Yeah, but then if he flies in like 10-15 mph winds its toast. The Thawk is very very durable, so if u do crash, you dont have to worry. The fuslage is plastic so it wont break, just scratch.

lol, well if you want something slower, then dont get the Thawk I guess. The Thawk is kinda fast, but im a beginner and i did it. Just make sure to have quite a bit of space when learning with it. Just depends if you want a plane with spare parts with it, or one thats cheaper or idk. Watch my vids on my site of the Thawk and see what you think, http://mattsrcworld.f2g.net

Them are some wild vids, especially the T hawk speed vid. That thing is crazy fast. How do you keep the wing from folding up under the extreme loads that you are putting on it in that vid and what motor are you using and what kind of gear?

One thing to think about, you can use the electronics of the t-hawk in lots of other slow flyers you might want to fly. You can get them for $30 to $45 with out the electronics! I don't know if you can move the slow-v stuff over, but, even if you do, you can ONLY use it in a V tail setup, maybe a flying wing.

homer23,

I saw in a previous post that you're concerned about the difficulty with putting a Slow Stick together. I wouldn't say it is hard. If you're taking your time, it might take 4 hours tops. Like any aircraft though, unless you pull it out of the box ready to fly, you have to have a bit of patience to make sure that the plane gets put together right. Better to take your time and have a good flying plane than rushing through and getting discouraged because the damn thing doesn't fly right.

There is one thing going for the Slow Stick and that it's been around for a while, many people fly them, and you are sure to get tons of help whenever you need it just by asking here.

I don't know much about the Slo-V, but by the looks of it, it will fly a lot like the Slow Stick. I'm also guessing that there is hardly such a thing as a 'perfect' plane. What you might want to ask Slo-V owners is what they see as the strengths and weaknesses of the design.

I fly a Slow Stick and am quite happy with it. I was worried about getting it together right too, but now, it was a lot of fuss about nothing, really. It was more about being unsure about what to do because I've never done it before.

Anyway, good luck in your decision. I'm sure whatever you get, you'll have a blast.

And if you have ANY questions at all once you open the box and get ready to assemble, just ask.

For my camera setup i Just use stock motor if thats what ur asking? It takes off pretty good still and flies more stable, but not as high, only like 65 ft. I love my thawk!

I've got both planes. I have about 5 minutes total time on the slo-v due to winds. Its very frustrating. Almost regretting buying it for that reason only. Had it over 4 weeks now. If your area is prone to constant winds at 5 mph or better, might want to consider a t-hawk. Thats assuming you have enough space to fly in. Like the others said, its a blast to fly. I have no fears of putting her in the air with 10 mph winds. Very fast and can easily get you into trouble if your head gets too big. Had one major crash. Too fast-too low. Replaced a broken elevator, popped back on the prop and she was good to go. Very forgiving.

So far ive only put a hairline crack in my elevator piece, and thats it. I even flew it before I fixed it, cause I didnt know i broke it, and it flew fine. I got dents on the main wing from some bad crashes, but its A ok. I think I get my servo 2morrow, so then I can take better pics

My T-hawk has survived around 50 crashes, some hard, some not so hard. Body getting a little rough. I am planning on gettting a Slowstick to transfer my electronic gear into. I will rebuild the T-hawk, but I want to fly a Slow stick. I should add that practicing on FMS has greatly increase my odds for a soft landing. Most repairs on the T-hawk only required repositioning of components. Some required packing tape. Main wing repairs include a wood slat sanded to the profile of the original, only longer. I did reposition my motor 90 degrees so that the prop would not strike the fuselage on impact. It is a fast plane and thus requires a large space. It was well worth the $150 I paid for it. I am running out of spare parts, but it is still flying.
