Default Motocalc question?

Hi All,

I'm using motocalc to help determine what motor/gear/prop combo to use. Can anyone offer a maximum temperature in degrees F that the motor should be allowed to run at? I know this must depend on factors such as cooling airflow etc. But is there any rule of thumb?

Default *F

I usually plug in 200 for high $ motors & 220 for cheapies for a starting point. If it's a plane that will need (or plan to use) alot of throttle most of the flight, I try to keep temp around 180-190*F. For a plane that I plan to use throttle management on I'll go as far as 200-210*F. Only prob. here is if the power system chosen needs to be ran at or near full throttle for most of the flight, & the plan was on throttle'n back, you "might" burn the motor up. Can you guess how i know that?
