That's a lot of work! I'll continue to contact Frank Bowman until he quits the business. How true though, making a piston ring is a skill, making a fine ring is an art!

Not difficult at all.
Done it many times.
We also include an additional step to ensure the finished ring is perfectly round and suited to the bore.
The reason we do this is, small engines are difficult to start and run properly if one has compression leaks, either in the rings or the valves.
Really, it's just a process that sorts the men from the boys so to speak.

If you visit enough forums (not RC related) you can find many very good piston ring makers. There are 2 fellows in California I know of an another person in Ohio that do fantastic work. I talked with others & seen their work. Not giving out names...you will need to find them on your own like I did. Capt,n

I'm sure it's simple for real men to make fine piston rings. I'm sure there are many guys in the country that are more than capable of the job. It's funny because whenever this subject comes up I only ever hear one name. One would think if there are others as talented as he, that someone would be sharing the name and contact information. Boy am I a naive little boy...
