Default Is this a Ryobi?

I got this out of an old weed whacker. It was locked up and I soaked it in penatrating oil and got it apart and cleaned it up. The piston and cylinder are scored, the rear bearing for the crank is rough, and I can turn it over by hand pretty easy. The compression is low for sure. Is this worth saving? I have all the other parts. Also what is a fair price for a new converted Ryobi, and what is a fair price for a used converted Ryobi?

YEP, it's a Ryobi. You need to find one with just a plugged muffler or worn out trimmer head. It's not cost effective to put a jug /piston/ring on one. Plus yours will need bearings too.

Enjoy,

Jim

$76.00 or their abouts will get you the new twin ring version from Harbor Freight and other tool houses...when they put them on sale..

So as far as trying to "save" one isn't really cost effective, but nice to save the major parts for the next one..like coil. flywheel etc..

It's a fun motor though...and will last forever with the proper oil mix and a 18x6 prop..

A friend of mine also got one in the same condition, it is not worth the time and expense to repair it. besides by looking at it, it looks like a 26 or 28 cc size because the 31 size has a different crankcase. You can buy a RYOBI 31 weed trimmer at harbor freigth for 49.00 dollars rigth now on sale and it will cost you about 60.00 dollars to buy the conversion parts at jagengines.com, or you could also buy a fully converted engine for 178.00 dollars from them. You can also try wackerengines.com they also have really fair prices on their conversion parts plus you can also get a bigger carb for more power.
