The stock carbs will work fine on this motor. Most seem to come with a Walbro WT610
I've changed mine to a WT 529. The 529 has a more freindly choke setup

The reason I wanted a replacement carb is because the the engine wouldn't stay running on the original (new) carb. I just found out that I re-assembled the throttle plate incorrectly! I had set the plate to open from the idle port towards the engine. This of course leaves no transition from idle port 1 to 2 and then 3. I realized this as I was tossing it into the trash can! After correcting my mistake, the engine now starts and runs great. I just can't get the idle down. Question - does the small notch in the throttle plate line up with the idle ports or does it go 180 degress away from the idle ports? I currently have the small notch over the idle ports. The plate is as closed as it can be and the idle is still very high. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks everyone.

Mine had a WT-657. I could not find it on Walbro's site. I wonder if this means I have a very old P-46, or a very new one? It seemed to work fine when I test cranked the chainsaw.
