i have an 18 cc (1.1 ci) poulan weed eater featherlite engine thats looking for a plane. is this engine possible to convert? what do i need to convert it. does anyone have pics of their conversion (mounting, fuel, etc.)? there is no backplate to the crankcase-the plastic housing serves as a backplate. what sould i do about that? i still cant undo the shaft that holds the driveshaft from the engine. is there a special way to take it off? one more thing-what kinds of planes will accept this engine specifically? im looking for some kind of aerobatic sport plane thats not too expensive.
thanks a lot

http://prophub.tripod.com/ This is on the Whacker Engines site. The engine is rather small and doesn't have a good power-weight ratio as some other types. There are a lot of inquiries about the Weed Eater 18, 21, etc

ok that gives me more choices, but wont the plane be very nose heavy or generally heavy if i balance it? the engine weighs about 3.5 pounds according to carr precision. what wing loading am i looking for in the specs of the plane? how about a stinger 60, stinger 120, or tower hobbies uproar 60?

A Stinger 60 would be fine but shorten the nose of the plane to where the prop would be in about the same position as if it had a glow 60 on it. Usually a couple inches. The plane should then balance within reason.
The Uproar is more of a 3D plane and this engine's weight would preclude the use of the plane in 3D manuvers.
Enjoy,
Jim
