Default Running a 3-blade prop on a 40cc

Hi guys!

I want to buy a 3-blade prop for my 40cc Homie (It will propel a hovercraft, so I think it should give traction rtather than speed), but that's nearly impossible in my area. Do you guys know of a online shop that will have the prop I need (a 3-blade 18x8, maybe)?

Thanks!

HI,

For low speed thrust, a large diameter two blade prop generally gives more thrust than a three blade.

Good luck,

Hi Av8tor,
I already knew this, for my engine a 22x8 would work fine. However, the prop will be shrouded, and a 3-blade would reduce duct's diameter , which is one of the reasons why I want to use a 3-blade instead of 2. Also, multi-bladed props tend to give more low speed thrust.

Ok, then how about mounting two, two blade props at 90 degrees to one another for a four blade setup? It should take nothing more than a longer bolt into your prop hub.

Take care,

I did that once with some smaller dia props, cut down the hubs, epoxied them together as well as pinned them, they didn't make near the thrust that a two or three blade made. SS
