Hi,
Well, my brother is in his last semester. He thought this one would be an easy one, but as it turns out he seems to have more homework than ever. That, along with his regular job have him buried at the moment so he hasn't been able to install the radio and fly the plane. The way aeronut supplies the plane, radio installation is almost all there is to do to finish it. I'm hoping my brother will get some free time soon so we can fly the plane.
Meanwhile, I'm still working on the Homelite 30cc for my Ultralite Stick 120, as I can...
Take care,
AV8TOR

Ok, here ya go. Say Capn' John, didn't you like the airplanes I "sent" you?? Just teasing ya know...
The Twist is really something. When you enter vertical flight at about 1/4 throttle, then nail it wide open, it looks like it was shot out of a gun, vertically!! The old Fox .78 runs great and fit the Twist with very little modification and no ballast was needed for balance. Very easy to land and a tiger when you nail the controls any given way!
Meanwhile, I'm trying to decide how far to go with the Homelite 30cc on my UltraLite Stick 120. I don't know if I want to go "whole hog" with the tuned pipe and all, or just do a moderate hop up and install it with a muffler. It's more work and money to go the pipe route as I will have to mount the engine differently and buy a header pipe, and I know it will have more than enough power without going that far. I need to make a decision before I start porting the 30cc cylinder because if I use the pipe I'll use more port duration, especially on the exhaust. What do you guys think??
Take care,

No such thing as to much power, IF the weight is proper.
Do a muffled 30cc first on a dummy firewall. Not enough power then add the pipe andmake another dummy firewall.

Hey av8tor! I've noticed that you installed the engine in the upside position, did you changed the throttle set up? because the way that I shipped to you is was configured for an upside-down position, is there any particular reazon for doing so.
Thanks. your buddy Bill Pomplun AKA Aero Nut

Hi Aeronut,
No, we just stuck it on that way at first. Then I noticed we had it backwards to how you had set it up and we changed it. My brother liked it better the way you had set it up anyway. He's still buried with school and work, so I'm not sure when we will be able to fly it.
Flew some nice flights with my Ultralite Stick/Homelite 25cc yesterday. It flies nice but I'm anxious to try it with the 30cc I'm building for it. I'm off right now to fly my Hangar 9 Twist/Fox .78 combo. That's a fun one! Just bought a Homelite 45cc off e-bay that I'm converting... Too much fun!

Personally, I'd go with a Katana ARF from Cheif Aircraft (www.cheifaircraft.com, or search Cheif RC Aircraft). They're only $199 and I think free shipping. Like a 72" wingspan, perfect for a gasser conversion.

I also being frequently asked for the price of the plane alone without the engine, I can sell it for $200.00 and $165.00 for an ARC version, plus shipping and handling. so if anybody is interested give me a buzz either through this forum, a PM or at [email protected].

Hi,
Not yet. He's still doing the college thing. He did come down the other weekend and we converted the motor to electronic ignition, and made a list of parts to order to finish the plane. I think he's going to order that stuff this week. Hopefully we will fly it soon. Though he loves the plane, and the gasser/conversion idea, he's still afraid of it. I told him it would fly easier than the .25 size jobs he's used to, but I don't think he will believe me until we get this one in the air!
I'll let you know...
