Hi, my name is joe iam new here and i have a question. i got a Homelite weedwacker and i want to convert it into a airplane engine. It is a 25cc engine. when i got it it was running pretty bad and being the way that i am i had to take it apart and see what was wrong. it just needed cleaned out since it has been sitting and the fuel gummed up some. Now it runs really good. i was just wondering if anybody could tell me where to get a kit and how much it would cost to convert it into a airplane motor. I have been flying for over 7 years now and iam really into 3d gas and 3d electrics. i would like to build 3d airplane from a kit or build a big profile plane from a set of planes. Thanks[8D]

Kao,,,,,,,,,,,Go to wackerengines.com Pete has just about everything you need for that Homelite.Get a hacksaw and some files and start to cut everything off the engine except for the bracket that holds the mag.
Cost to to the conversion is pretty low,muffler,$25,flywheel balanced and machined $15,conversion kit $36.Do a search here and you will see how to trim the lower case down, pretty easy.

Hey man thanks alot. Thats a really good website to convert an engine. Do u know what size airplanes that a 25cc engine would fly, or even hover and have enough power for maybe even unlimited vertical. I was thinking maybe around the .90 to the 1.20 size airplanes. Iam just getting some info because i do not want to under power an airplane. Iam more into sport plane not really into the cubs and big trainers. thanks[8D]
P.S. Thanks for the site!!

Kaos,,The Homelite will fly planes like a nosen 1/4 Citabria,1/4 Cub with ease, also there is a kit out there made by a company named R/CGuys,that sells a kit for $99 called the TreeHopper. Also you might want to consider an Ultra Stick Lite. Now if you really wanna get serious try a Homelite 25cc in a Carl Goldberg Ultimate Biplane. One Gentleman did just that here, and posted pictures etc. in these forums,HE DID AN EXCELLENT JOB!Trying to find a plane that will hover on a 25cc Homelite is gonna be a little tough.Right now i am in the process of designing one to do that (or come close, hehe!)One other small engine you might want to consider to convert is the Homelite 33cc engine from a Ranger or Bandit chainsaw.Very easy conversion, lot simpler than the 25cc and has alot more punch, you can pick one up for around 100 bucks or so.

cool i always liked the Carl Goldberg Ultimate Biplane. many people at my field like it to. One of my good friends has a ultimate and loves it. It handles great and flys so stable its also is very aerobatic. Thats what i am prob going to go for. i havent looked at the Tree Hopper yet but i will. I will be the only one at my field with a 25cc ultimate. i will be in glory.
Thank you so much for your information. Its kinda nice to have a internet site where u can trade info and ideas with other people. I will get back to u and see how it turns out. Thanks[8D]
