Default cutting a taper

What do you home machinist guys do to cut an inside taper when you make your own prop adaptor?
I have a small lathe and turned up an adaptor but got stumped when it came to the inside taper.
Any ideas or tips

Thanks

Den

Default RE: cutting a taper

I did this a couple of weeeks ago on a myford, If you can ajust the angle of the tool post i found 10.5 degrees off of the axis worked best other people found it to be about 11.5. I had to grind a little boring tool to fit inside that little hole.

Vicman I am making a basic prop adaptor for a Poulan 42 cc I don't have the exact dimension right now but here's about what I'm doing

engine shaft .449 tepres to .33 or so

I would like the shaft to slide in the adaptor a bit say 3/4" then cut the taper then allow for the shaft nut after that I'll just make up a four bolt prop setup up front I can take a pic later

Thanks

Den

Den B: You may want to check this out. Post #7 Dave shows his method of making prop hub without taper. Believe even more discussion in Dont forget Echo thread.
