Default Great Planes Fokker conversion???

I'm thinking about ordering a Great Planes Fokker triplane to use with a lightweight Kioritz 23cc. Has anyone heard of this being done, or have any advice??

Thanks,

AV8TOR How did you come out on the Folker Triplane? The 23cc engine should work if you make sure the airframe is strong enough. Good Luck!

Hi,

I went ahead and got the plane, and I have "liberated" the 23.6cc hot rod Kioritz from my "Phoenix". I'm tuning up a Homey 25cc to go back on that plane, as that plane needed some nose weight anyway. I think the Fokker is going to be fine and make a fun plane. I'll do a little triangle stock reinforcing on the firewall, but it looks like that's all it will need. I'm betting the balance comes out just fine with the Kioritz/Echo, as guys with 120 four stroke glow engines were having to add about a half pound of dead lead to make it balance anyway. Don't look for a report anytime soon though, as I'm very busy at work and I've got other projects ahead of that one!

Take care,
AV8TOR

AV8TOR: I bet that tri-plane will be a hit. It will be a lot less expensive to fly than a glow version also!! Good Going.... Capt,n

I saw one flying with a 4 strok 90. It was pretty cool. My thoughts went like this - Hmmmmmmm......that airplane would make a great conversion candidate due to the short nose and generous wing area. I think you will have an awesome airplane on your hands with the Kioritz!

Thanks guys. I'm going to "give it a whirl" for sure. We'll see... when I get around to doing it!

Take care,
