Robin 24.5 cc conversion
OK guys, I have just finished and tested my Robin 24.5 cc conversion. Stripped everything off, added a stock G23 muffler and prop shaft, CH's Syncro Spark ignition and a bigger carb. Starts and runs very smooth. It is about 2 pounds with the ignition battery. I'm getting 7100-7200 top end and about 1600 at idle on a Zinger 16/8 prop. I built an enlarged "Stik" (80" wing and about 13 pounds dry) to test the engine and it flies it with authority.
I will start testing different brands and sizes of props next week. Is there anything else I can do to improve the performance?

RE: Robin 24.5 cc conversion
I have two engines that are identical (both new). One came from a Robin weedwhacker and the other came from a Makita weedwhacker. I just found a new Robin leaf blower at my local surpluse store with the same engine. I order parts from my local hardware store for the Makita model number for both engines.

RE: Robin 24.5 cc conversion
Great looking conversion. I just started running a Graupner 15/8 three blade on my 24.5 Robin with CH Ignition and am getting about 7200 RPM as well. I have a WT391 11.1mm carb on mine. What carb are you running and where did you get the carb adapter. I'm using the original adapter and bored it out as much as possible. Still less that the carb opening.

Hi gsmith6879,
i use the same carb (WT 391), the adapter is "selfmade".
Now my system ist ready!
With this 25cm3 PEFA-Muffler it goes near 8000 RPM with the Graupner prop.
The engine, with a shorter venturi, fits perfect for my FW190A (1780 mm) ...
(Sorry for my english) []

Phillipp,
Very nice conversion. I have two engines converted and plan to put them on a 1/5 scale OV10 Bronco. I want to run the exhaust out the side of the nacelles and will need to plumb them much like you have with your FW190. Who manufactures the header parts?

RE: Robin 24.5 cc conversion
Hello from Berlin,
thanks for the praise
The header ist from MTW (http://www.mtw-daempfer.de/html/hauptteil_krummer.html)
Look at the third foto on this site.
With an exact technical illustration with masses Mr. Weiershäuser
solders a header for under $ 40 (stainless steel). [sm=thumbup.gif] He is very helpful and fast. [sm=thumbup.gif]
The muffler is an older PEFA (http://www.pefa-modelltechnik.de/seite3.htm).
The insulator at the carburetor consists of two disks (aluminum and plastic) - very simple ...

RE: Robin 24.5 cc conversion
Phillipp,
Thanks for the info on the headers and mufflers.
The 1/5 scale OV10 Bronco has a 96" wingspan. I am using plans from Dan Palmer here in the US, but I don't reccommend them. I don't think Palmer has built this plan and the lack of detail shows.
Good luck on your Robin 24.5 cc conversion and the FW190. Let me know how the project goes.
