Stihl 051
I have a Stihl 051 chain saw sitting in the corner of my garage. Its an old one it was my grandfathers. Some one borrowed it once and dropped a tree on it, cracked the case and handle a little. Still runs good I don't think it has many hours on it as it was his backup saw.
Has anyone here ever converted one. Any specs or suggestions? Stihl web site says 5.4 ci
I don't like chain saws I like airplanes!
Thanks in advance for any info.
Pete

great saw but a bit heavy. Once your get the engine out and trimmed might not be all that heavy. from what I remember the 051 was not a real high rpm saw. I'll look up specs and get back to you

RE: Stihl 051
tripp3d,
Thanks for the reply. I do remember that it wasn't a real screamer but it had allot of torque for a 2-stroke. I also remember the way my back felt after running it! I figuried I could trim of allot of the weight I think the outside case is all cast so it's probably pretty heavy itself.
Thanks for any info you find,
Pete

And then I have to get another plane to put it in!
