Anyone converted one of these?, its out of a k650 chainsaw, seems well built, im half way through conversion but will be making a new hub for electronic ignition, already made a magneto hub but have discovered the coil is shot so i may as well go electronic and save some weight.
the jug is branded gillardoni
any advice or tips greatly appreciated (my first onversion)

Hi,
I recently seen one of these on Ebay. It went for more then my budget, so I didn't get it. Since I was bidding on it I did some research and found that it is a very expensive saw engine. This usually means very high quality. They use them to cut concrete and chop out openings for windows during construction. They cost from $600 to a grand new. It should make a great high torque motor. All of the usual chain saw conversion technics apply, since it will have a flywheel shaft and a clutch/oil pump shaft. Good luck.

Crusty,
Another thought about your Partner. Most large saws like this have a intigrated crankcase/saw body. You will most likley need to cut most of the body away from the crankcase. Being very careful not to damage the crankcase.

I've done several like that, Mac's and Echo's, I left part of the case on the rear of it to put 1/2 inch thick vibration isolators on it, this worked out great, little heavier than it could have been, but very strong. The mac, I cut it down like the one you did, and made an aluminum mount for it, works great as well. LOoks like you have some holes that go all the way through the crankcase? If thats what that is in the pic, should be easy to make a mount for it. ss

Hi Crusty,
Nice job. It is nice to see that the coil is mounted to the cylinder. I hope that it doesn't need to have retarded ignition for starting. That size engine can really kickback. Be very careful.

what did you use to cut the case?

I can make you a muffler for it if needed.

the Gilrooni cylinders are very popular poulan and husky uses them exept poulan has stopped useing them sense they discontinued there 60cc.

check your crank shaft taper against the g62 ... it just might fit then you can get off the shelf prop hubs and electronic ignitions..... that looks dang close to a husky

its not a chainsaw as first thought, its a disc cutter as we brits call them

Ken, I chopped it with a hacksaw and drill, (I know about magnesium hazard),Thanks, A muffler would help as it is only bit I cant make, please let me know if its practical to ship to uk, and what sort of price
Ralph, how much for ignition complete?, If you could let me know what sort of hub to make, that would be usefull, I realise that you normaly like to have the engine and make the hub, but thats not possible for me all the way over here, thanks
