Default tapping question

hi! first of all i dont know where to post this, so sorry if im in the wrong forum.
my homie engine has a 3/8 - 24 thread on the shaft. now i need to build a prop adaptor to it. i have a solid stainless shaft. now i need to know what should be the size of the hole i need to drill into my prop adaptor so i can tap it with 3/8-24. thanks!
