Default using a stihl on helicopter???

Do any of you know af a way to convert a 2stroke engine to be used on a helicopter? I see where some of you have done so for airplanes but what about helicopters? Thanks

I like to fly too much to pay for the nitro that I am putting through it. By the way, I have a raptor 50

Hello,
You will need to get a high quality engine with a clutch. The clutch drum should be attached to the drive shaft. Some clutch drums are attached to the plastic shell. Redmax is zenoah and that would be a good choice. A rear pull starter would be nice too.

if you managed to fit one in a r50, it would be a pig.
its not big enough, a 60 size at least is needed and be spinning something like 760+ blades, they are quite heavy and need a big bird to get the loading right

I have a raptor 30, I think it could be done but you may need a lathe to make up your clutch hub. The magneto has a fan bladeson it(i would leave them on) so you would just need to enlarge the fan shroud. You would also be better off with a raptor 90 as it would handle the weight of the engine better. For the gears you would need to figure out a good speed for the engine(probably 7500-8000rpm) and desired headspeed and go have the correct set cut.

Good luck, please keep us informed. I to was interested in doing this(with a homelite 25) but I have to many projects on the go, so it will have to wait.

Don't you think the availble gas helis are a total rip off, they think we are stupid or someting?

This is were I get all my raptor bits, well priced and reliable: http://www.helikraft.com
