Attached is some Pics of a "Vickers Vimy" Bi-Wing. The plane has is 163.5" wing span, is 106.4" in length, and weighs 42 lbs. with out engines or controls. I have converted two Poulan 42cc <a style='text-decoration: none; border-bottom: 3px double;' href="http://www.serverlogic3.com/lm/rtl3.asp?si=24&k=chain%20saw" onmouseover="window.status='chain saw'; return true;" onmouseout="window.status=''; return true;">chain saw</a> engines for use on this plane. The left wing engine has been tested and is ready to install. The right wing engine has been converted to run the opposite direction and will be tested when the pusher prop arrives. To convert this engine to run backwards, I mounted the coil in reverse of the other engine and reset the timing. The coil posts only extend out far enough to cover 1/2 of the magnets on the flywheel. Will the engine still run or must these posts be positioned such that the entire post is over the flywheel magnets? (The last PIC is w/o the wings mounted)

The spark maybe weak, I think you'll only know for sure when you try it.
That is a beautifull aircraft, was the full size a one-off version?, the fuselage is very different to the classic vimy form ala alcock and brown. Please can you keep us all informed on its progress

Wow! That plane is amazing! Was it a kit or did you scratch-build?

Why make the props rotate the opposite direction? I have two large-scale twins with gas engines (118" Me-110 and 100" Cessna Bobcat, both with Homelite 25s) and having both engines going the same direction isn't a problem. The torque effect is no worse than a single-engine plane, maybe even less. Especially with those long wings and stab area on yours, the torque effect should be even less noticable. I would leave the engines alone and just get them to run reliably. Adjust them seperately for a good idle and transition, and slightly rich at full throttle. Use your linkages to get them in synch. If they are not in perfect synch, don't worry about it. It's almost impossible to keep them in synch through the whole throttle range.

Hey Guys, Thanks for the replys, But I must give credit where credit is due. The model is not mine but is one of the scale models from 3 SEABEES Models. They sell this model in 3 versions: Commerical,Bomber,& Atlantic. 3 SEABEES has asked me to engine the plane for some demo flights & video's. Still working on the conversion of the 42cc Poulan engines. Just have not yet been able to get the reverse turning engine to run. You guys maybe right and I probably should just return to normal configuration and save the frustrations of trying to get it to run backwards. Anyone with experience getting a conversion engine to run backwards (with mag) I could use some help!
