Default Stihl 023C conversion

Has anyone converted a Stihl 023C chain saw engine?
It looks very much like a Homelite 45cc.
I found some data on the net;

1,9KW / 2.6 hp
40,2 cm3

It seems to be an easy conversion, except for the carb mount.

I will use a regular aluminium engine mount, and a CH ignition.

Hi Jon,
My suggestion for the carb mount is the have a aluminum cup made that slips over the flange for the rubber boot. This is then held on with three set screws. Tape the outside to hold the carb. This is how the BME 44cc is done. Another way is to trim away the boot flange, making a flat intake area which is tapped to mount the insulator which the carb is attached with two more screws. Also use two aluminum plates to attach the case to the mounts.

Here are pictures of how I solved the carb mount problem using the original rubber boot on a Stihl saw engine. The engine has many flights but is in need of a coil. Cut too much from the coil mounting bracket and the coil vibrated itself to death.

Since you are using electronic ignition do you have a good coil? The number on the coil is 2204 222 103 Bosch.

I've recently bought a stihl 023c Chainsaw.

I'm in the process of rebuilding the engine and i was wondering if you had gotten any further with the conversion. Cos i'm thinking of putting it into a custom drag car.

Any ideas would help.

Cheers
