I have a fokker d-7, top wing 57 ", bottom 48"...im guessing end weight being in the 10-12 lb range. Will a 23cc pull it??? I have a general idea of converting engines from this forum, but can someone point me to some detailed info...maybe a step by step??

A good 23 will be fine. Engines like the Echo, Homelite, and Poulan 25, stihl, Red Max etc.

I have a Balsa USA Eindecker 81 inch wing. My Echo 23.6 pulls the plane very well. 16X6 MA prop, around 7400 RPM.

The D-7 is a good canidate for a 21 to 28cc trimmer engine. Since it should have a lifting airfoil and a short nose the 3.5 to 4.0lbs motor will help balance it. The higher wing loading should be carried well by the clark Y lifting airfoil. Another advantage is the boxy cowl will enclose the flywheel.

Checkout this thread. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_69.../tm.htm#695908 You need to do some reading in this column and do some searching. The Echos are easy engines to convert, but you need to know the basics about 2-stroke engines before you start. This will keep the mistakes down.

My Eindecker weighs about 10 pounds or so. Taking it to our scale fly-in this weekend. Kinda like a Cub. Just putt around and stay real relaxed! Fly for about a half hour on a 14 ounce tank and still have at least a quarter tank left!!
