Default LIGHTENED FLYWHEEL??

Is there anyone out there who lightens flywheels on magneto engines? how much weight can you save?

Drbenz,
Many people turn down the fins and balance them. If you remove all of the fins and balance it, you can save an extra once. You have to retain the integrity of the wheel. Safety is paramont.

it doesn't just remove weight, but also rotating resistance, with a 18" prop out front you don't need the fan on the flywheel...

It will be hard to generate performance numbers. A 10% reduction in weight will make it respond better, but I don't think you can tell. The idea is to trim off as much weight from the engine as possible.

trimming of weight is for the airplane wingloading gyro, plus it does have some extra drag because the fins are pushing air though not much
